She'll have had to agree to the decision maybe, but the guy was Sharapova's agent before and will have been well in her ear over it. Not all sportsmen and -women are strong enough to withstand that (I doubt that Sterling would have behaved as he did over leaving without that slug Aidy Ward's "guidance" for example).
 
Her previous coach will definitely be getting #metoo'd if and when her money causes her to fall back down the rankings. When that happens she will need that little extra boost to her marketability. Poor bastard but you'll love to see it.
