Anyone else lads? Niall Quinn? Shay Given?

Explain why Gerrard gets into a "Premier League 11" ahead of Roy Keane for me.

Let's have a heated debate !

[/quote]Ryan is clearly Kanwar.

You could probably have a reasonably good go at arguing for a side with no-one but Utd players. Threads like these always make me think of just how dominant Utd have been in the last 20 years.

Let's have a go at producing a PL all-time 11 with no Utd players in it.

I think I'd have Evra there ahead of Cole.

That said, any premier league team that doesn't have Roy Keane and Bergkamp is pretty much without credibility for mine. No way are they not two of the best players in that time period.

He doesn't, no way. I'm not submitting a team coz Gerrard, maybe our best player ever, wouldn't be in it.

3 months on and Onky's still thinking up a response.

Roy Keane ftw.

I've already said that Roy Keane (and Bergkamp) have to be in the team. That said, Keane gets in there ahead of Viera. Gerrard is in there Ryan; his form and displays from 2002 to 2009 are irresistable whether you've fallen out of love with him or not.

No one, absolutely no one, loves Gerrard more than me mate.

Keane & Vieira have won premier leagues, which has them in this team before Gerrard in my book. Maybe it's how I'm interpreting how a 'Premier League Team' should be cobbled togethor, I dunno...

So you're telling me that a Keane / Viera CM partnership looks better to you than a Keane / Gerrard combination?

Viera and Keane had world class team mates right across the paddock when they won titles. Gerrard, bar a couple of seasons, had at most 2 or 3 elite players along side him. Yet he still scored more goals, made more tackles, ran harder for longer and made more successful passes. Actually, I haven't checked that last stat but I'd have him for passing ahead of either of Viera or Keane.

I admit I'd pick Keane first - proably ahead of anybody else - but Gerrard's form over 5 or 6 years demands a place in that team.

No one is selecting the side based on how they'd play togethor as a partnership or a team mate. It's a case of picking 11 players and shoving them down.

Besides, there's probably not a lot between the three of them. I guess I chose Vieira (like you, Keane was a walk-in starter for me) based on success alone. I'd entertain an argument either way to be honest.
