I have no idea what kind of mindset leads some supporters to believe that staging a riot in Anfield Road before the CL tie is in any way helpful to Liverpool Football Club.

Where exactly does it say there'll be a riot?

This is just asking for a proper welcome. The type that preceded our big games in recent years, streets lined with fans, flares & chanting. Ramp up the atmosphere before their team even get into the stadium.

I'm not sure where any of that leaflet says 'riot' to you, unless you're reading way too much into 'scare them back to mancland'?

Flares, bangers, "pyro." Sounds pretty ugly to me. Sounds like hooliganism, in fact.

So the proposal is to create an intimidating atmosphere in a nicey-nicey sort of way, then? There will be flares, "pyro" and bangers, but nobody is going to get hurt.

I feel better about it now. I understand that the reputation of the club's supporters is not going to be harmed in any way.

I think you're worrying over nothing old friend.

Do you not remember those heady days of 2014 mate? Loads of flares & pyro, flags & thousands of fans lining the streets before the home games, the club's reputation soared as fans looked on enviously at the atmosphere we created.

I don't see any reason why this would be any different.

We created an intimidating atmosphere by simply being there & singing our songs loud & proud, not by causing trouble or being aggressive, & I don't see this being any different.

Can't see it as a riot. More to show City what our fans and atmosphere are all about

I'm not against creating a hostile atmosphere, just worried about the way that is being proposed to go about it.

As an old bastard, I recall the days when visiting teams ran out to a wave of anger from the Anfield crowd. How dare you run out onto our pitch! Nowadays it is all very tame. That's the kind of intimidatory behaviour that I would like to see come back - not violence on the streets.

So here is the arrival of Villereal in 2016 when we did something similar. Riot? No, but a proper sense of occasion and no doubt, a soupcon of intimidation.

This is exactly what is being planned, not kicking off against anyone.

But it carries on into the game mate, the majority of those fans will go into the now clinical, commercialised stands with that same sense of controlled anger, entitlement & full on will to roar their team home that we used to experience regularly. Also, their players have to sit on that coach slowly passing that maelstrom of noise & atmosphere even before they get into the ground, & then they have to walk out of the tunnel into a wall of noise & sea of flags & banners. Even if it just knocks one of two of them down by a percentage of their game, it's made a difference.

@Portly being a Tory you should be used to riots..

Probably explains why you indeed think it is actually a riot..

Seriously.. Its just a bit of harmless fun.. We have done this many times before without issue

I posted this in the CL thread.

Great idea and has been done well by us in the past. Create a great, SAFE, non-violent atmosphere to intimidate the opposition players and make them know where they’ve turned up.

If I can get there, I’ll be there singing loud and proud!

Portly, give your ticket to someone else for that game. Its wasted on you mate.

Im finishing work at 4pm and getting wrecked before the game. Im gonna be proper horrible me. I hope Sterling plays. He'll be on the wing right down by me for the majority of one of the halves. Little cunts gonna get it.

Take a burger to throw at him.

Can't believe they are bringing Spiderman to deal with it.

Two spidermans/spidermen* actually!

*The Spidermen/mans debate has raged in our house for a couple of years now thanks to both the boys having a spiderman suit.

The fuck was portly during our title run in the other year?

Couldn't escape that stuff before the match. it was boss and added to it

No one was aggressive, no one went over the top. It just made a heaving atmosphere in the whole postcode
