So there is long standing momentum with this one I wouldn't be surprised if he just turns up one day soon. What do people think? His record since he went to Italy is extremely impressive for a wide attacker- 43 goals in 109 appearances. Add to that a record of 29 goals in 52 international appearances, and it is fair to say he gets goals. Do we need him or want him? I have to say, I like what I see.

His agent posted a picture yesterday on Instagram, that he was going to London.
He also started following Liverpool on Twitter appaz. Which you can imagine sent some people into overdrive about a transfer.......

In all seriousness though. Great player with loads of pace and goals. Roma want close to 50 mill euros for him.
Can you read anything in to his first stint at Chelsea?

He started nearly all his games on the right wing. Will he be as effective on the left, or will Mane?

He was let go because he wasn't doing it the PL (2 goals in 19 games) and from what I can remember he wasn't that impressive as a winger for Chelsea either. Can't explain his form in Italy though, so what has changed ? Is it him, the team, the style of play in Italy (so different from the PL) ? Would be a major gamble IMHO.

Well he's left footed and Mane is right footed. I could see them interchanging and swapping flanks. If Coutinho continues to play deeper next season we could definitely accommodate both of them, and it could potentially be a thrilling combination.

He barely got a look in at Chelsea. Most of those appearances were as a sub. He actually still looked dangerous. It was just a seriously bad career move.

I think the title of this thread could have used a bit more creativity. That's what I think.
I'm not proud of myself, but I thought you can have too much of a good thing. Fancied mashed potatoes rather than a spicy curry.

I wonder if its true that we just fucked up with the negotiations or if we didnt bid at all.
Would have been a much better career move for him moving to us at that time.

I think he looks a bit like Arda Turan when he had long hair. Maybe that's his destiny, to be linked with Liverpool forevermore

On a serious note though, he was shit / ignored at Chelsea, whats changed?
He wasn't shit. De Bruyne also got shunted out of the same team in the same era, remember. Maureen likes his tried and trusted team. It was a terrible move for him.

We low-balled them repeatedly and then Chelsea came along and bid what they wanted straight away and did a deal.

He only played 530 minutes in the PL though with Willian, Oscar, Hazard and Schurrle etc infront of him. Not sure you can read to much into that first year in England (in total). He was also only 21 years old.

Thats right, I remember now. We didnt cover ourselves in glory there...
11 mill £ in the end, and we lowballed them, and thats after spending 21 mill on Ilori, Aspas and Luis Alberto that same season.

He averaged 50 mins per game and yet had only 1 assist and 2 goals with a shot accuracy of 35%. He may be a much better player now but it may also be that Serie A suits him and the PL doesn't. I don't watch him play in Italy so can only comment on the stats.

It's weird, but in a clip showing him score 19 goals in a season, he didn't look that impressive to me. A large number of his goals came from pretty tame shots of his that the goalkeeper either got a hand to and still let it squirm in, or weakly parried back to him for a tap in, a lot of them were rebounds from other players shots, and only a few looked like solid individual efforts. On the flip side, he was on the end of a lot of crosses, arrived late onto the ball well a lot of times, and showed a fantastic determination to put away a few lose balls. I'd have almost thought he was a striker as opposed to a winger watched that clip.

I dont think getting booted out of Chelsea is that bad a thing when you consider he joins Lukaku, De Bruyne and Coudrado on that list.
Good footballers.

I think he would be good. Not amazing, but good. And we need some good back up for the front 3 we have who got injured and missed games.

Better than fucking why is Divock for a kick off.

I don't think he has the mental toughness to cut it in the EPL.

A player suited to the Italian style - the same goes for Cuadrado - both are very good players, but suited to particular styles of play.

I've watched plenty of Roma fixtures this year and Salah has been very good.

My only question over him is his mental toughness, mainly off the pitch.

There's no chance he will start ahead of Mane - and that's where I fear the problem is, toys out of the pram very quickly and he'll be off to another club.

The seasonal recurrence of this rumour is almost as depressing as the Cliff Richard calendar.

If. And its a big if, we qualify for the champions league proper, we have 46 games minumum.
Thats assuming we go out at the group stage and in the first round of the cups.

Our squad BROKE playing 44 games total this season

We need more depth.

And we also need to sign players toot fucking suite, because these 'Champions league football' players who will sign because we are 'In' the champions league might have a sharp rethink if we draw Benfica or whomever the other hot poo teams are we might need to qualify against.

Can't argue with his stats, but as said above, it's not in he prem, but then we'd have to apply the same rationale to half our targets. So let's say he can reproduce that here, in which case, id have him pronto. I'm pretty sure he can play across the front three and he's fast, scores and assists.

People are saying he might not be suited to the prem, but if you look at his clips he is a born presser, and a lot of his play is about harassing his opponent and snaffling the ball for his team. He's very much a Klopp player. I would also point out that Italy is not exactly the easiest division in which to score bags of goals. This isn't the Eredivisie we're talking about.

We can't draw Benfica. Sporting Lisbon (who even their own fans think are shite at the moment), Victoria Pzlen, Bruges, CSKA Moscow and Hoffenheim are in the draw (assuming they get through the 3rd round qualifying, otherwise lesser names). I'd prefer to avoid the last two but we shouldn't really have a major problem qualifying for the group stages.
