Shelvey doesn't have 'tonnes of pace'
Gerrard-pace I would've hoped?
Nowhere near
*glass shatters*
How does that even matter? He's a central midfielder. Alonso and Xavi don't have pace. Neither did Scholes or Roy Keane. They were pretty good, weren't they?
Someone said Shelvey reminded him of Gerrard in a post a while ago and I've been hoping ever since.

Of course it's not that important if he's not that type of player and more Xabi-like.

Scholes have some pace hasn't he? So does Xavi as they are both incredible quick on their feet, more so than Gerrard anyways.
They might be quick on their feet but they're not pacy by stretch of imagination, which is what we were talking about.

There were comparisons to Gerrard but I think his playing style is more of a hybrid between Gerrard's and Alonso's. More languid but less powerful than Gerrard and more explosive but less languid than Alonso.

His pace is probably Xabi like, he can look quite sluggish at times mate, but he makes up for it with his ability to play the first time pass using good awareness of what's around him.

liverpool seem to have some seriously talented youngsters on the book, will be interesting to see how many of them feature in the CC this year.

They definitely seem a cut above the usual 'good crop'. They look physically ready aswell, no short arse lightweights.

I don't know how much of the reserves you watch mark, but suso looks fucking AMAZING but it's hard to judge how much of that is due to playing in the reserves rather than against grown men.

I've not seen him yet mate, I only really know about Shelvey from the few bits I've seen in the Internationals and for Charlton, so not much. As for Suso, I've not seen him at all but I know Doc Mac keeps banging on about how brilliant he looks. So that's four that look REALLY promising in Shelvey, Suso, N'Goo and Sterling, surely one of them will make it?

*prays*

Great post, Modokay! 🙂

I really can't wait for a youth player to force himself into the first team. An attacking player would be icing on cake. Even though Shelvey may not have come up thru the academy, at least that will be a signal of intent of what the club is doing/trying to do.

Shelvey, suso, wilson, kelly, coady, wisdom... Will all be the bees knees I reckon.

Sterling I'm not so sure.

Saric seems to hold up the ball very well but wears pink and purple boots.

Sterling is still only 15 years old. He's very skilful, but he needs to develop some game intelligence.
He also needs to grow a couple of inches.

the next time suso plays for the reserves, you should check him out of lfc.tv, he is ridiculously good i.e. better than patcheco 'NOW'

We got some talented kids, lets hope they get a few appearances here and there. As for shelvey, i really hope he plays ahead of lucas

I'm hopefully wrong on sterling, I just can't help but think pennant. Judging my some of his facebook comments he seems to think he's made it already.

Plenty of people can do stepovers etc... They usually provide the half time entertainment.

You know a player is good when milan kaka baros releases a compilation

What about Adam Pepper? I thought he was supposed to be good ... though I don't think I've heard anything much about him for a while now.

Was released by the club, by all acounts he's struggling even to get with another club.

For some odd reason I'm still of the hope that Irwin could turn out a good useful player too.

Maybe time's running out but he's always had something about him whenever I've watched him play.

To be fair, with the size of squads nowadays the reserve league is full of "grown men" on the fringes of the playing squads.

Suso is a very serious (as in top player material) prospect, no doubt.

Shelvey looks very tasty too in that clip.

Elsewhere: Someone broke Nikola Saric' ankle in the first Reserve-game of the Season so his out for at least 6 weeks.

*sigh*
Had high hopes for this kid, although he has been fucked with injuries alot. Kind of like Duran
