Was Bale at Left back tonight? He looked a bit suspect there earlier this season, and has looked good on the left of midfield.

Donkeys XI

Myhill
Vanden Borre
Evans
A. Ferdinand
Insua
Pederson
Anderson
Aquilani
Elmander
Scotland
Santa Cruz

he hasn't really played either.

That andthe fact i couldn't think of anyone else left me with that decision.

Nasri, Vaermalen and Masher would get into my team I reckon.
I'm sure someone else has mentioned this but... Nasri was out injured for 4 months.

Get a grip.

How on earth did I forget Modric - he's had a great season.

Bale (Cole has been good but Bale has been great - and again against Arsenal tonight)
Modric has started less than half of Spurs' games this season.
Bale has started even less than that. How can someone who's started 13 times in a season be the best left-back in the league mate?

Some of the suggestions in this thread are fucking laughable.

Anyone who has put Bale at Left-Back in the team of the season is doing nothing except make themselves look foolish

He hasn't even been playing LB

He has in quite a few games Bren.

But still.

Largely when Assou-Ekottou-whtever was injured. He's been getting all the recent plaudits playing LM.

It's Evra, surely. I can't be arsed doing the rest of it. When you can think of more Liverpool players for the "Donkeys XI" than the "Best XI" it gets a bit depressing and pointless.

I know faye is more traditionally a centre back but Huth, Shawcross, Faye and Collins have all played across the back 4 at times this season.

* The Burnley Caldwell but they're both shite.

** Hull City

*** Based on expectation (as with berbatov). There were worse performers than Berba and Mikel but you'd expect that from teams at the bottom.

Yup.

He's had less than half a dozen good displays recently at left midfield, and as such is seemingly the best left-back in the League according the scribes on this site.

Assou-Ekotto was and is first choice left back ahead of him. And for most of the season Redknapp's deployed Kranjcar, Keane, Modric, and a few others ahead of the taffy cunt. He's only got his chance through injuries to others.

He's taking it well no doubt, but left-back of the year? Do me a favour.

I know Mikel isn't perfect, but he's done a steady job and he's top of the league. Certainly an absurd choice for one of the worst players in the league.

Chelsea are a shadow of their former selves, fortunately for them so are United, Arsenal and ourselves. Lampard and Malouda are the only 2 midfielder who have performed very well. I suppose it's a little harsh but compared to Essien he is very poor.

Mikel is seriously harsh Pes.

There are fucking dozens you could have chosen before him.

True, but as I mentioned I based it on expectations and even though he has outperformed say Keith Andrews of Blackburn I'd expect him to, playing for a top of the table team, BUT Andrews has probably served Blackburn's purposes better this season (and cost a fraction of the price) than Mikel has for Chelsea, IMO of course.

Didn't Ryan Giggs win player of the season with about 16 starts?

Then again he also got BBC Sports Personality of the year. Joke.

I think Ryan and Brendan should pick their own teams rather than nit picking everyone else's. Just a suggestion.

Don't you start.

He may have only started 13games or whatever but in the games BALE has played, he has been awesome. Besides evra i dont really see another player that would come close to taking that position

I've seen practically no football apart from Liverpool matches this season, so I'll refrain from making a team.

Milner's impressed me.

Bellamy's had a terrific season.

As has Darren Bent.

All of them deserve to be in with a shout. Unlike any Liverpool footballer.
