Think someone with a Mourinho complex who has nevertheless failed to win anything despite being one of the game's longest serving managers....

I joined too but I have a feeling I just wont put the effort in. Looks time consuming.

It honestly needn't be. It does become addictive and you end up devoting a bit more time to it, but it really isn't that time consuming at all.

I always said that you weren't a cunt Y1!

Everyone starts off knowing nowt. Ask other players for advice, to look at your team, and to suggest ways of improving. There is an Xpert11 forum with loads of basic advice and where you can throw questions at the more experienced players. Sign up for the Xpert11 Prem league and one of the official leagues too if you fancy. More practice helps you get in the swing.

Again, fully agreed. And Mike, if you sign up for the Prem league you may eventually get the pleasure of playing against my side, whose skipper is Chinese!

Well, we've accepted Modo so I suppose we can't really move the goalposts. You can still join.

When I tried to enter the SCM league, it says quota is full!

You'll only be allowed to join one league at the moment (plus the official league). Once you play a bit it will let you join 2 private leagues.

I think you've already joined the Champions league, so that's why your private league quota is full.

Join an official team, it will help you learn how to play quicker

Looks like I am in SCM... given a team with names I absolutely have no idea who they are... so looks like I let it play auto for the time being... so much to learn, so little time!

You are given a new team for the Champions League and you have to build it up in the same way.

What I'm saying is, is that it isn't as much extra as if you didn't play it anyway. You're logged on, you know what you're doing, bada bing. Just sign up already ya big tart.

Signed up, though haven't the foggiest what I am doing

That's you accepted. Welcome aboard. The key to the game is training and development. Basically you want to train players to keep them in good form (I try to keep players I care about at at least 15 form). When you play players who are in good form, they will get what is known as a development value (referred to as DV). At the end of the season, you get what is known as a change report and the higher the DV (up to a max of 20) then the better the player develops as a result.

When thinking about training you will be thinking is it worth spending money on training. There is no point wasting money on a player who is shit or old. You don't want to bother training any player on 6 or less skill unless they are young. Usually the benchmark is along the lines of a 20 year old 6 skill player, if you have a player with 6 skill and is 20 or younger then he can develop and is worth training. If there is a player older than 20 at 6 skill or less then hes not worth training at all. That should hopefully let you see who is worth looking after in your team and who is deadwood.

I had a look at your team and your keeper is decent. You have 1 defender who is worth training, the rest are pants. You have 4 decent midfielders and 1 good striker. I wouldn't put any money into training anyone other than those 7 players. You need to buy a couple of good defenders. When I started off I pretty much stripped the club and had a bunch of very young players (16/3, 17/4, 18/5). BTW if you see us on here using that fraction thing it means age/skill - 18/5 is 18 yr old 5 skill.

I'm sure the other lads on here will give you all some advice. Doc and Refugee are particularly good and have built multiple title winning sides.

I suggest the new teams play each other in a friendly to help get to grips with things. Lads, there should be a list of teams to challenge down the right hand side when you go to the start page.
