Your Crazy Dreamteam

I have a question, why would Dortmund sell to us? Especially one of their most prominent talents?
They obviously have a long term plan in mind.

I seriously think all of us should start thinking smaller.

One player we just have to buy is Forsberg. He'd be absolutely perfect for us.
And if we can get Christensen from Chelsea somehow...damn, that would be perfect.
Andreas Christensen would demand a fee in the region of £40M - £50M in the current market however and we'd be competing with Barca, Bayern, City and Real if rumors are to be believed. I am afraid he's simply out of reach though I totally agree, he's one of the finest, most elegant and effective defenders I've seen since the legendary Alan Hansen.

Forsberg is tailor made for Liverpool under Klopp.

I agree with all of that however:
Forsberg - My only problem and it could be unfounded is how quick he'd adapt to the PL given his age. However we've seen how the likes of Payet fit in, so if we can't get Brandt for £11m, then the more expensive Forsberg would be an excellent choice.

We can forget about Christensen, he seems destined to start for Chelsea next season. Regardless of how good he might become.

Oh and I was realistic, no big team, first squad snaffles from me

Ha ha..

Dortmund Dembele would be an amazing signing but as with Mané I don't think he's THAT creative. He's fast, smart, direct a goal threat etc., and maybe it would be 'enough' to make us compete I am just vary that we'd miss that creative spark a bit against teams that'll park the bus.

Speed always creates ... because it makes defenders scared ...

Because ... at the end of the day, money talks. Why did we sell Suarez? Why did Manure sell Ronaldo? Why will Arsenal sell Sanchez? If we offer Dormtmund a massive wad of cash, and the player wages he cannot get at this age at Dortmund, there is a good chance he'll move.

Thinking small is healthy sometimes, but not for YOUR CRAZY dream team.

If we clever enough, we can get close to £40m for Sturridge (despite his injury record) if we sell him to the Chinese. No big club in the PL will be after him, so tell him to maximise his earnings and move to China. West Ham are looking to sell Carroll for £32m.
Yeah the Chinese could really turn the market even more upside down than it is, which could also lead to us paying over the odds for everyone else, why I've left out 'silly' transfer money as it could somehow pan itself out. If that makes sense.

I kinda have a love hate relationship with these threads. It's as if we all collectively come up with a great plan to save the team. But then reality strikes and we end up with totally different players with excessive expectations and the season goes down the toilet.
Then we go, "well next season so and so can improve". Next season comes and they don't.

I'm starting to think that the only way we're gonna get that league monkey off our backs is if a rich oil geezer with deep pockets takes over, brings Ancelotti around, sells the entire team and buys a combo of Real, Barca, PSG and Bayern Munchen players.

My CRAZY TEAM is just a result of years of frustration. Whatever experiment we've got going isn't working out. Pull a Football manager or FIFA and sell everyone, can't stand seeing these inconsistent bastards anymore.

It worries me that we have TWO consistent players in the team. FUCKING TWO! Clyne and Mané. There lies the problem.

Which as we've seen with first Chelsea and then City, will only happen after you've bought the next level down talent and qualify consistently for the Champions League.

So I guess step one is, get to the CL.

It's a good point re: consistency.

We didn't want to sell Suarez. He wanted to leave Liverpool for a club that would be more likely to win trophies and play in Europe every season. And he went to Barcelona.
Ronaldo's dream was to play for Real Madrid. He was sold because he wanted to play for them. Sanchez - if he leaves - will join a club that will win trophies.

Money isn't the only factor for most players. Suarez wouldn't have left us to play in China.

So saying that all Liverpool have to do is offer Sanchez £250,000 a week and he'd join us is bollocks, because he's already turned us down once and joined Arsenal for less.

Money is a gigantic factor, we all know that, but we need to realise that we also have to show the top players that we can regularly compete for trophies and play in Europe. So far, we've failed to do that. We haven't won anything for fucking years. why would Sanchez or any player at that level join Liverpool right now?

Unless there is a close personal connection to Klopp (Lewandowski, perhaps) I don't think anyone of that caliber would either. Not at this stage.

Exactly. It's what City (and before that Chelsea) did.

Spend a fucking LOAD of money on 4 or 5 very good players - perhaps not the very highest calibre or reputation - and simply ensure that the team has a step-change in quality.

Splashing money on more quality players also signals ambition, which means that a player who might not have considered the club before, is clever enough to realise it's a club that will be winning titles very soon.

Again, see City.

Eventually you will be able to attract almost who you want.

Basically what I said, but in a different way. Ha.

I really, REALLY, hope that is the plan for the Summer. It has to be.

Th thread is "Your Crazy Dreamteam" so anything goes as long as you can do it for under £150m net.

So a squad of 18 (plus academy graduates). And i'm going to assume Harry Kane is ruled out as well because he should be.

Sell - Mignolet 5m, Lovren 12m, Sakho 10m. Henderson 20m. =47m

+150m =197m

Gk: Karius, Oblak (30m)
Defence: Milner,Clyne, Matip, Klavan,

Add: Tah (20m) Kolisanic,

Midfield: Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Grujic
Add Kessie (40m), Lorenzo Pellegrino (15m)

Attack: Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Mane,
Add: Mahrez (30m) Lukaku (the remainder)

Sell Ming and sign Ben Leiper in goal:

Ive not really kept up with the footie this year with the babies coming along and everything, so I dont really have much of a clue.

I will leave it to those of you who have watched a lot of football this year to find me..

GK - 25m
LB - 20m
DM - 35m
CB - 30m
Lukaku - 50m

Heres the players I would sell
Sakho 15m
Markovic 8m
Can 15m
Sturridge 25m
Origi 15m
Karius 5m
Moreno 10m

Maybe a bit optimistic for Markovic and Moreno but theres still between 70 and 100m worth of sales.
If we top that up to 150m and buy some proper proven talents we would have a real shot at trophies next year.
