Just a simple thread and I know some of it's already been covered, but anyway. What do you make of the following and how do you think they will push on for us?

Coates

Spearing

Shelvey

Henderson

Kelly

Flannagan

Robinson

Sterling

Coates - will make the grade

Spearing - I don't think he's good enough

Shelvey - kids got lots of promise, would like to see more of him

Henderson - loads of talent, confidence is the issue here

Kelly - will become solid and dependable. A future Finnan/Carra

Flannagan - don't see quite enough in him

Robinson - much more to come from this lad

Sterling - has the talent most definitely and confidence. Needs to have the right mindset now

Yeah, agree completly with Sunny. Shelvey hasnt looked out of depth at all, but has a lot of aspects about his game he needs developing.
Coates will become a brilliant player.
Sterling is extremely exciting. Hope he plays more than 10 mins on sunday.

Yeah, we've had the benefit of watching Spearing over longer, and I just think that while he can occasionally look tidy and does his job, he certainly got shown up in the last few games, particularly against Chelsea, though to be fair he was left alone alot to try and marshal the midfield for most of the game. Shelvey just looks like he has that bit of class about him, and his set piece delivery, aside from the disaster game prior to the cup final, has been pretty good. He put in a cracking corner for Agger's goal the other night.

Coates I'm getting more and more impressed with by the game.

I honestly think shelvey has it all. He just needs to make better decisions on occasion.

If he can make better decisions, I honestly think he'll make the grade for us and be very important

I wouldn't disagree with a lot of what has already been said.
I think it is too early to tell if Sterling will make it.
While he is no doubt very talented his finishing is often poor and decision making at times leaves a bit to be desired.
Hopefully this will improve in time and then he has a great chance of being a top player.

I think Jojo needs to bring a bit of discipline and positional awareness to his game. Stevie has been accused of similar faults but they can be excused because he is a truly wonderful talent. Jonjo will need to iron out a few of the weaknesses in his game because he is unlikely to reach the heights of Gerrard as a player.
He has shown signs of improvement recently and I am very hopeful that he will be a top player in time.

I agree re: jonjo count, but I think he has the potential to grab a game by the scruff of the neck. He just needs to work out the kinks.

Jonjo is still young. I remember when Stevie first broke into the team he was very raw too

I compared him and Henderson to Gerrard and Alonso recently.
Not that the two young uns are carbon copies of the older one's but simply I believe that Henderson will be an underrated player for a long time while being a vital part of the team while Jonjo, despite being euqally as talented, will gain the most of the plaudits with his more showey performances

I certainly won't argue with that

I still think they both have great engines and could work beautifully as a central 2.

Coates - coats

Spearing - new potato head

Shelvey- weird romanian superhero

Henderson- lego raptor

Kelly - hollyoaks actor

Flannagan - a ghost from the irish potato famine

Robinson - shite

Sterling - hella good

Coates - Needs more game time, hasn't disappointed

Spearing - Has come up short. Both figuratively and literally. Not good enough.

Shelvey - Bright signs, needs to be coached. He can make it but next season is too soon.

Henderson - Up and down. Has the skills but not the balls.

Kelly - Poor season tbh. Has gone backwards, probably because of his injuries. Still a good option though.

Flannagan - Not convinced at all. I don't think he has what it takes to play for a top side. Our u18, McLaughlin, is better.

Robinson - Havent seen much of him this season due to injuries, but when he's played he's been good. Albeit for the reserves.

Sterling - I still don't think he's ready yet. Needs to bulk up but the talent is there.

Coates - Very raw and makes mistakes. Might be great. Dunno yet

Spearing - Not even very stable at back up. Sell

Shelvey - Going to be great

Henderson - I think he'll be a very good signing

Kelly - Ace.

Flannagan - Shite. Sell

Robinson - Not seen enough

Sterling - Bestest player ever obviously

Coates - 1st team player

Spearing - Not quite good enough (could still make it in the premiership imo)

Shelvey - 1st team player

Henderson - 1st team player

Kelly - 1st team player

Flannagan - Not good enough from what i've seen (Championship level)

Robinson - Don't know

Sterling - Don't know, but i'm excited as fuck about this lad.

In general its a shame that most of them havent been used a bit more in the league once 4th place became out of reach.

Coates - criminally underused imho - defo ready for the first team - thanks and bye bye Carra. Centre back cover next season

Spearing - flashes of a good player does not hide and always gives 100% - like him but not really the answer if we are serious about getting into the cl

Shelvey - I don't think he will ever make a deep lying dm but is more suited to advanced midfield. He could be a real player - always looking up for a pass to release a player in space and calm on the ball - if ever Kenny plays Adam with Shelvey available as an alternative I think I'll need somewhere dark and quiet for a long lie down he needs as much game time as he can get - our most exciting prospect. Ist teamer from 2013/4 season

Henderson - I have given him loads of stick for some spineless displays but in the last few games he appears to have grown some cajones (albeit not very big ones) Optomistic about him for next season but we really need better

Kelly - gone a bit backwards this season defence wise for me but a good squad player nevertheless

Flanno - Simply not ready yet

Robinson - Think he will get more chances than Flanno when fit

Stirling - Needs more opportunities to play - Carling cup games next season - Cant be any worse than Drowning - time will tell.
