That's the furthest a Liverpool premier league side has ever run, and just a smidge behind the all time total, 121.2km. I love this type of football, it's great to watch, and it works, however with no winter break, and some of our best players hardly being grafters (Coutinho, Sturridge) how do we keep this up without burning out come Februrary? Will the lack of European games mean we have enough rest to make it work? Or are we only going to see this kind of running performance applied in certain games?

You would hope its only in certain games, the wear and tear associated with it will inevitably cause us some injuries.

That said it is nice to see a team bursting a gut during a game. It should be the minimum required but all too often it seems impossible

Agreed, it's so fantastic because it can destroy the best teams, we should always play to a high intensity, but that level seems impossible for the entire season, even with heavy rotation. My main worry is that as soon as we abandon that approach we seem to struggle to beat teams, our next game against Burnley would be a perfect example of a game we should maybe take a step back, but I'm honestly not sure we'll win if we do.

Arsenal is a good team that need some serious movement to outplay them. In parts of the game yesterday we did exactly that. Other teams will be more compact and focusing on defending, hence they will shut Down the rooms were we can run. That is areas of Our game that we have been struggling before and it will be interesting to see how we have adrssed it over the summer. Burnley away can be a totally different game, although they being home can open it a little.

Will we be able to keep it up for the entire season though?
A bit worrying that Coutinho broke down.

He was one of the last ones to return. Not so surprising. I just wish he'd lasted 30 seconds longer so he could have wrapped up his hat trick and it would then have been 5-2.

Dortmund had no problem sustaining it through the entire seasons; Klopp knows how to do this and he's done it before. The only concern is the lack of a winter break in England. Klopp will need to manage the squad smartly, maybe even give certain players a "Sterling" type of a vacation mid-season. This is also why having a lot of interchangeable and versatile attacking options – Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana, Mane, Wijnaldum, Origi, Ings, Ojo – will be crucial to sustaining our level of performance.

I've not got as much concern this season as I do in subsequent seasons when we'll hopefully be dealing with European football as well. We'll need a deeper squad in the future for sure but I'm ok with this approach for this season.

We only have 38 games plus cup matches.
Maximum would be about 50 games.
We played about 65 last year

It shouldnt be an issue.
