Liverpool FC have confirmed that Fernando Torres has on Friday evening submitted a transfer request. The request has been rejected.

The Club said in a statement: "Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool.

"Fernando is under a long-term contract and the Club expects him to honour the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."

Well, it's so different, and like in football, it's all situational. Sometimes you placate the player, sometimes you don't. But it all should be driven by what the valuation of that player is, and how much wages they are taking up. Almost every player has a price, and you can't say we are a team built around Torres, because we aren't even utilizing him effectively right now.
