Because it's Bayern....he has a connection with the club being a former player long before becoming Leverkusen manager, something I'm sure Leverkusen fans are aware of.Why would Xabi go to Bayern straight after winning the league with Leverkusen?
Leverkusen fans hate Bayern and Xabi would just tarnish his name.
Liverpool: "Am I joke to you?"Because it's Bayern....he has a connection with the club being a former player long before becoming Leverkusen manager, something I'm sure Leverkusen fans are aware of.
He'll also fancy his chances with the squad there to build it into the best in Europe and win the CL.
If he's our #1 guy then we'll reach out to him or his management team with the view to offering him the job won't we?Liverpool: "Am I joke to you?"
I honestly forgot that he played for them cunts. Still, if the offer doesn't come from us he should stay and finish what he started. If he's our #1 guy then we'll reach out to him or his management team with the view to offering him the job won't we?
Your question was why would he go to Bayern, not why would he turn down Liverpool.
Xabi will do what's best for Xabi, if the options are staying at Leverkusen (1 more year) or going to Bayern......it's a pretty instinctive choice, no? I can't imagine a world where any manager would give themselves too much thinking time.I honestly forgot that he played for them cunts. Imo the smart move would be to stay put and test himself in CL with the team he knows, instead of joining their rivals and another project. Unless LFC come calling.Xabi will do what's best for Xabi, if the options are staying at Leverkusen (1 more year) or going to Bayern......it's a pretty instinctive choice, no? What will make it interesting is if he gets offers from both clubs, who he'll pick.
Are Leverkusen really Bayern's rivals though? They've never won the Bundesliga. If you were to ask 100 Bayern fans, who their rivals were, I don't think many would say Leverkusen.Imo the smart move would be to stay put and test himself in CL with the team he knows, instead of joining their rivals and another project. It's different in Germany, you're right it's not their rival in the sense of Man U being our rivals but EVERYONE in Germany hates Bayern. It's everyone's rival. Are Leverkusen really Bayern's rivals though? They've never won the Bundesliga. It's like saying Leicester 7-8 years ago whenever it was, they're now rivals to Utd Liverpool Chelsea etc.

Surely it depends on what happens to the team, no doubt some of his players will be purged by other clubsImo the smart move would be to stay put and test himself in CL with the team he knows, instead of joining their rivals and another project. Unless LFC come calling.
Yes there's a slight chance of that happening but I'm not so sure. One player they might lose in the summer is Jonathan Tah since he only has a year left in his contract. But ultimately it'll be down to if Xabi stays or goes, I think. Leverkusen aren't desperate for cash.Surely it depends on what happens to the team, no doubt some of his players will be purged by other clubs
Thought it's been pretty obvious that we've had his agreement before Klopp announced his departure.
I think it's perfectly set up for him at Liverpool. I've listed the reasons before but we are a team in transition already performing at a very high level - the sky's the limit for the right manager and Summer spending. That's how I view it too.
He has nothing left to prove in Germany. Especially if he wins the double and goes unbeaten. How do you top that? Certainly not with Munich.
Only club I'd be wary of is Madrid and they've extended Ancellotti. So unless he suddenly loses energy...
The coaching team leaving en masse means we've shaken hands with someone. I can't think who else it could be.
to be honest - even though they are performing really well, are we really that desperate for the players they have ? - we just want their manager not necessarily their players. The key to that team doing well is Xabi, not any single player.Yes there's a slight chance of that happening but I'm not so sure. Going to Bayern where he’s guaranteed to win the league and have a crack at big ears where he’s increase his station vs replacing our greatest manager in 50 years and will be compared against him constantly and most likely never beat City. Absolutely madness to choose us.You keep banging this drum but in fact that's arse about tit.
If he's a possibility then surely Amourim would be too, but not sure what the fuck Carra would know.Carragher saying Roger Schmidt of Benfica is on the list of possibles

Yeah doing what he's just done is compelling. CL? He's got as good as chance with us as Bayern, maybe better. And the other points I elucidated on ? You have no answer to.Going to Bayern where he’s guaranteed to win the league and have a crack at big ears where he’s increase his station vs replacing our greatest manager in 50 years and will be compared against him constantly and most likely never beat City. Barca-styleeBayern have had 6 managers since 2016. No manager has been there longer than Guardiola (3 years) since Magath in 2004.
I cant understand why Alonso would choose that path at this stage in his career. The fact that he can win the league and cup in Germany this season makes it unlikely that Bayern would get him mid season anyway.
I'd wager that Bayern are releasing stories like this to try an unsettle the team in front of them.
Bayer Leverkusen sports director Simon Rolfes has cooled talk of interest from Liverpool.
Rolfes has been linked with the Reds as they seek a new sports director. Bayer coach Xabi Alonso is also a target.
But he told Kicker: “The fact that there is a lot of speculation about the protagonists of Bayer 04 due to our current successes is part of the business.
"But that doesn't change my orientation.
"It's not without reason that I only extended my contract in the Fall. I am absolutely happy in Leverkusen in this constellation."
