I reckon Real will want to get Alonso before anyone else does.

Hopefully he doesn't go to an English team (other than us in the future).

I think he's a pretty smart guy, and will be cognizant of the perils of taking a big job too soon. He'll try and do something substantial at Leverkusen before making the big move.

I hope this is the case. For every Guardiola or Zidane or Xavi, there is a Gerrard or Lampard. And as much as Xavi looks like he's the business, it's usually better to hone one's craft a bit more before really hitting the big time.

Plus Leverkusen to us in 2-3 years is a nice move for all when Klopp decides he needs a break.

He has managed his playing career brilliantly in terms of picking the next move. If we are in a good place at the end of Klopp era, I bet he will choose us as a stepping stone to the Madrid job. If not, I assume it will be City or Bayern to pad up his CV with trophies and then the Madrid job.

Seriously, which high-earning manager at a successful club would want to go to Madrid? Its a cauldron of egos, with no job security. You could win a Treble in Spain, but lose your job if you come 2nd and win a domestic trophy the following season. The fans are spoilt and will call for your head as soon as things hit a dry patch.

Almost every one of them with the exception of folks like Klopp. Madrid calls and most living managers and players drop everything they have and run to them. Barcelona was the same but now they are in a tricky situation. Even then they manage to attract players like Lewandowski.

I guess depends on tax rates at the time.
