Sadly, that's true, mate - I was thinking the same thing myself when I read it... Some of the shite I see the poor bugger put up with even here, in Texas, is unreal... I had thought about doing it, as I get too old and slow to play on, but don't think I'll put myself through it. I'd get myself into trouble. Or beaten up. Or both.

I think that's actually true - but the crime that is committed is more indiscriminate, of greater violence and less rational. I'm not sure how they measure that last aspect but suspect it means that much of the violent crime that is committed has less justification.

I can't get over the fact that someone who carries out a fatal attack with such violence can finish with a mere 3 years jail time. That's absurd; it'd be fairer if the victim's family were allowed to select any member of the family to land their own kick to the assailants chest as punishment. Two or three broken ribs, punctured lung and deeply bruised solar plexis; justice has been served.
