Wrong Wrong Wrong....

I think in my lifetime it has to be Kewell. I've never known a player arrive with so much promise, the "new number 7".

His attitude, his injuries, his inconsistency.... Grrrrrrrrrrr.........

to be fair he had a very good first season (you could say the same about heskey).

Christian Ziege.

That's my pick. Dream of a left foot but looked lost in a Liverpool shirt
[/quote]

To be fair I think that Ziege wasn't played in his best position which was on the left wing in 3-5-2 formation. The sad thing is that he was labelled a fullback but was somewhat shite at defending.

More than once, even in the usual 4-4-2, he did well (have another look at the Treble video and see how many goals stemmed from a Ziege run or cross) and promptly got dropped next time out. I didn't think he was well handled by GH at all.

The most recent would be Joke Hole.

Signed on a free from Chelsea, recovered from injury, what could go wrong!

Sander Westerveld was another one who I thought could have been great and was for a while.

Scales, Babb, Stig Inge Bjornebye and Dom Matteo. I thought they had enough. Especially Matteo.

TBF the fact that he wasn't was purely down to injury. He had the ability (as far as anyone did) and showed it for that first half-season.

Yeah, I still have a soft spot for him actually. I can remember being really excited when he signed.

Steven Wright
Morientes

But the epic wrong call on my part was Diouf, he scored 4 goals in his first two games and I thought he was gonna be immense.

I am not sure he scored 4 goals in his whole Liverpool career did he! I know he went a whole season without scoring, the useless twat.

Nigel Clough was another one I thought would be good. He started pretty well too but faded really quite badly.

Same subject, different aspect - when we signed the King to replace Keegan I thought we'd made a mistake. It wasn't that I thought he was a poor player, but I did think he was overrated. I've never been more wrong, nor happier to be so.

Hahahaha, me too. I remember running down the road to pick up my Dad's newspaper and on the back page was a huuuuge headline "LIVERPOOL SWOOP" and underneath were pictures of Alan Curtis of Swansea (his equivalent today would be Andy Carroll - in terms of potential rather than style), Trevor Francis of Birmingham (another hugely rated young talent), some Coventry forward whose name escapes me at the moment (short ginger lad who was prolific at the time) and KENNY.

I didn't even bother to read the article I just ran back to Dad to show him we were replacing Keegan with these 4 players! Much to my disappointment Dad read the article and explained that we're only going to sign one of them. I spent the next few days praying that we'd get Curtis or Francis and Dalglish was my least favoured choice - he was the oldest of them and only played in that dodgy Scottish league - how little I knew!
