Just sat down to find out that Johnson and Young are both starting.
Really exciting team.

Played very well in the first 35 minutes before limping off.

Poulsens been almost decent but he's obviously thrived playing ahead of Agger because of his many forward runs.

Elsewhere, Robbie Keane has given Ross another reason to hate him. He missed a penalty on the stroke of half time. It's currently Ireland 1 Slovakia 1. Ireland playing better than last Friday's debacle anyway.

Everything is coming back off him, and with them sitting 11 behind the ball its tough to break them down.

He comes too deep to get the ball, into the areas where Gerrard (usually) likes to play, it doesn't work with a centre forward because essentially they want to be in the same position too. It needs the wingers to get in behind more.
 
Shame to see Montenegro without Vucinic and Jovetic.

England SHOULD win this, but if those 2 were playing then it would definitely be game on.

Jovetic would make a mockery of Barry just like Oezil did.

He has yeah, but I don't think England's setup always helps him either.

Frustratingly, it seems GlenJo has decided to turn up to a game awake for the first time this season.
 
Watching Croatia-Norway, and we're currently losing 2-1. But, there is a right winger making his debut for Croatia tonight, Ivo Ilicevic. He's been fucking ace since he came on. Knowing our scouts though, we've probably been more impressed with 37 year old Simunic whose career highlight is getting three yellow cards in one game.

There is that, but why does Gerrard and the rest of the midfield drop so deep to collect the ball?

Push up into the opposition half, let the centre-backs bring the ball out thus freeing up a bit of space for the midfielders and attackers.

It's almost as though they want to be playing counter-attacking football against a side who are set up to park the bus.

One of those Hollywood through balls or runs down the wing might eventually work, but we'd be better off adjusting our tactics.
