So there's been a lot of talk about players going in different directions in January and we certainly need some very good ones heading in this direction. That said, very few of them make sense and are clearly just paper talk or average journo's taking 1 and 1 to reach a convoluted 50m.

Then comes a piece that really makes sense - Chelsea and Reus. Schurrle is excellent but getting little game time in Jose's set-up; Klopp is actually a fan of the Chelsea player and he fits the bill in terms of a goal scoring winger/forward going back to his home country. Then you look at the Chavs and if there's one player they're missing it's someone to play in the line just behind Costa and chip in the goals.

Chelsea this season are largely the team I was expecting last season - tremendously well balanced but with a hint that a lack of depth up front could undo them. When I read the headline my first thought was of Wenger's efforts to combine Shearer and Henry as a strikeforce at Arsenal. I was incredibly grateful that never happened and I have a similar feeling to this proposal.

If it happens would it make them basically unbeatable? Fabregas is on record that Chelsea are a long way from the Arsenal team that went undefeated. If they add Reus, though, would that be the final piece?

We're not going to be close to being better than Chelsea for another 3 years or so, and even that's reliant on loads of things going our way. If Chelsea want to spend loads of money to transform the best team in the country into the best team in the country I'm not gonna lose too much sleep tbh.

That's why you guys need to give up the hope og reus signing for lfc. We get a striker and a proper DM like mascher and our season is back on track and maybe a goal keeper

Heh, you fucking love Lassana Diarra.

Not me, the shape of his head freaks me the fuck out.

I can't remember who I was talking about there. Might be the other one Real had, Mahamadou Diarra. Neither would've been much use to us!

What happened to Elia? A lot of hype back then but he always seemed to me like another Babel

Not quite sure. I think he did go the way of Babel in that he never quite made it.

My good impression of him was always based on watching him destroy City in the Europa League.

Some excellent and valid posts regarding defense but the fundamental problem is we're not scoring enough goals. Fifteen goals in eleven games.

As regards conceding goals with the exception of Southampton all of the other teams in the top half of the table have conceded double figures. Lets not overblow our deficiencies.

As the manager says balance is required, some of that will be addressed when we get our top scorer back in my opinion and I'm sure there is enough experience at Melwood to work on defensive technique and confidence.

Told you so posts always seem a bit knee jerk.
