It wasn't a penalty as it was offside (the ball hit Suarez's striker partner on the way to him) before it gets to suarez ...

oh well, unless Mexico-France is a draw, south africa have the great honor of being the first host nation to not get out of the 1st round ...

Oh, and Pienaar is shit.

That Saurez will fit in lovely at the Mancs next year. Dirty fucking cheating cunt.
Don't care like. Quality game.

i can't believe you're being serious ... one side hasn't had as hot on goal, the other a deflected goal, a penalty and a shot on goal ... it has been an average game at best.

There ain't been much better so far though Av.

Yah, I feel really bad for South Africa the country ... Oh well ... If it's not Rugby or Cricket, they just don't seem to be able to ever take their game to the next level ...

I feel for SA in this tournament. They have been drawn in a really tough group here, against tough top class opponents. And France. Their progression was always in doubt because of that.

FIFA got 'em good ... 'Rush for Africa' part Deux

South Africa were simply not up to the standard required. They failed to create anything in front of their own fans on their own turf. They are now unlikely to progress unless they can raise their game significantly and the other result goes their way.

I was also very disappointed in their fans leaving the ground early. A once in four years event and they head for the exit because their home nation isn't winning. I can't imagine FIFA rushing back to Africa with TV pictures showing empty seats all around the ground.

The best thing though was the silencing of the vuvuzela.

I want Diego Forlan to play for Liverpool FC.

That way, he can't be fucking with us any more.

I know Switzerland's goal was lucky and all that jazz, but some serius credit has to go to Hitzfeld and the way he set that side up to negate the Spaniels.

Remarkably good tactics, that frustrated the Spaniards, forced therm wide, and that the players stuck to - to a man - for 90 minutes.

It wasn't pretty, but it worked. So if you're Swiss, you wouldn't really give a fuck. Unless you're Lech of course, who's spent the last 3 years banging on about how Rafa's negative tactics have killed us. Therefore, he would have taken no joy out of the Swiss beating the Spanish like that. Sucks to be him.

Cant disagree with that. It reminded me of the rearguard action against Juve away in our magical run.

SA were poor and got exactly what we deserved in the end. It's a real shame. On last night's evidence, we simply don't have any chance of making the next round. It would take a miracle!

Switzerland were not playing Hull at home O'Hare.
Switzerland started with 2 strikers. Spain are just a better team, you have to defend against them.
You're as clueless as Rafa.

Historique! 8)

Jesus, I hope the Anti-football Toblerones get killed soon.

What a shit game.

Congrats tho, Lech.

I thought it was a good game Avey, Spain played some great stuff and had a couple of their players not been quite as rusty they would have trounced the Swiss, but fair play to them, they got it spot on and stifled the Spanish.

Oh, it was undoubtedly effective.

But as I was telling Y1 earlier, I'm pretty neutral in the World Cup and just want to see quality football.

Victorinox ain't it.

Spain played some good stuff though, they just lacked clinical edge, which I'm sure will come in the next game or so..

Well in that case, I look forward to watching a vintage attacking display from the Swiss against the 'mighty' Honduras then.

There you have it folks; the fucking Swiss are gonna be the irst team to really light up this World Cup. In years to come, we'll talk about the Swiss 2010 team in the same revered tones as Brazil of 1970.
