Wolfsburg interested in signing Liverpool's Divock Origi permanently

Wolfsburg are looking into the possibility of signing on-loan Divock Origi from Liverpool on a permanent deal.
Origi, 22, joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan from Liverpool in the summer and has so far impressed for the Bundesliga side, scoring three goals in his last six league matches.

The Belgium international says he is enjoying life at the club and has not ruled out extending his stay there.
"I feel really well here," Origi told Bild. "It's a nice club and I am having a good time. I can grow here. And you can never rule anything out in football."
Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe confirmed to Bild that the club could attempt to secure Origi on a permanent transfer.
"We will chat about what might be next some time before the summer," Rebbe said. "At 22, Divock's an extraordinary forward. He's exhibiting his talent here right now."
Wolfsburg face Hertha Berlin at home on Sunday in their final Bundesliga match before the international break and will be hoping to bring an end to a run of six consecutive draws.
Wolfsburg coach Martin Schmidt hinted that he could play Origi on the wing against Hertha alongside Mario Gomez, who has recently returned from injury.
"He's in a flow. If he can keep it up, he can score 10, maybe even 12 goals," Schmidt said of Origi. "He's versatile. Why shouldn't I play him on the wing?"

I'd still like to keep him personally. He's something like a 1 in 3/4 striker judged on his Liverpool form, which is quite impressive given his age and the transitional period the club was/is in for some of that time.

Physically he has the tools too.

A problem Origi has got is that if he'd better be shit hot if he gets a chance in our side, otherwise he's only going to get the odd game, which at his age isn't going to help. So far he's had one purple patch for us and that's it. He seems like the sort of player who is going to need a run of games to find his form and I'm not sure we'd ever be in a position to give him that opportunity.

We are not going to be in a position to give any striker that, unless they are Brazilian with brilliant-white teeth.

Origi May have the physique but he hasn’t got the heart or hunger. He doesn’t fight for anything. He’s shit.

I'm no fan or Origi, think he's pretty average tbh. But i don't see how you can say he has no heart or hunger. What's that based on?

Depending on his season at Wolfsburg, I'd be inclined to selling him next summer.
Wolfsburg are able to make a decent offer given their financial status and for us it might make more sense to have 1 top quality striker added instead of a few that might make the step up.

I really like Origi but I'm not sure we're in a position to wait for him to develop. That role could be given to Solanke, and then we could sell Ings and Origi and add a decent wedge for a top quality striker.

Hope he has a great season for Wolfsburg mind. The talent is there and the lad needs games.

I think I might just about be able to count on one hand the number of times he’s won headers from long balls, or him shoulder barging someone off the ball, or making a strong tackle to make his statement on a defender or midfielder. He just prances about and does fuck all to fight for the team. I’d forgive him if he had pre-injury Sturridge type ability but he doesn’t and so is a waste of space.

Red Mullet has it right above. Origi had started doing those things when that animal Funes Mori crocked him in the derby game.

Our front line is a bit of a mess, we have 5 forwards and none of them are inspiring any confidence. This will be Sturridges last season at the club, Ings may not even last til the summer. Solanke for whatever reason is only being used as a time wasting substitute and Firmino is a 1 in 4 type striker. If we do sell Origi then we need to be buying at least 2 strikers and probably promoting Brewster from the youth team.

A player of his stature should be more physical, imposing himself on defenders. But Origi seems to prefer the silky stuff and shy away from anything physical.

If he develops his physical game he could be a beast to play against. But if he wants to go all silky then his best position could be a wide forward.

He won't be a good enough wide forward for us. Imagine Benteke playing out wide.

Fine. Klopp doesn't play with a centre forward anyway. Decent but not very bright in a footballing sense. Would rather see Solanke get more time. And Woodburn is coming through.

Sell with buy back clause.
Yep sounds sensible to me. I would allow them to have him on a slightly lower than market valuation as long as they allow a buy back clause. If not then sell him for as much as we can.

On another note:
I think he had the potential but he doesn't seem to have true strikers instinct. At Liverpool he would wander around and not be in the right place at the right time. He never seemed to understand the value of off the ball pressure on opposition defenders and would be too deep position wise. The were many times on the final ball and Origi would be missing in the penalty area seemingly having a conversation about Belgian chocolates with Mignolet.
