Will you still hate him - when he's gone?

The campness of his free kicks makes it hard to take him seriously, in spite of his ability. He's like an eight year old who's just seen a sci-fi movie and thinks he might have special powers (rather than needs).

Ha ha. Yeah, he is UNBELIEVABLY vain and egotistical. His mother has a lot to answer for, I suspect.

Of course I will still hate him. As an example, a Reina quote from the official tonight:

"What I do know is that Clemence was probably the best goalkeeper in Liverpool's history. Of course, my aim is to achieve just half of what Clemence did with Liverpool. If I manage that it will be a successful time for the club."

Can you imagine he self centered shite Ronaldo would come out with if compared to Best or someone? A megacunt.

What maddened me more than him was the fact that he was being made to look better than he was by naive defenders. When there were plenty of tricky wingers in the game, defenders knew how to deal with them - and they concentrated on the ball and not the feet. Nowadays they seem to be dazzled by every step-over and feint, then collapse in a heap as the 'magician' skips past. I know he's got quick feet, but some defenders just gazed at his ankles and went into a daze. I'm convinced someone like Lawrenson, Thompson or Nicol would rarely have been caught by him. They were too cool and shrewd. That's not to deny the player has a big talent, but some of the hype really has been farcical. Anyway, will I miss the winking mincer? Nope.

Are you kidding man?

He has some the quickest feet in history and would do the same amount of damage back then if not more.

Fabio Aurelio watched the ball rather than his feet and had him in his pocket.

Harder said than done however...

You sure about that..? ;D

oh dear.

what do you base that on?

Pace and strength.

Ronaldo is as much an athlete as he is a football player, he'd have been a quality player. Although I'd like to see him take some of the rough and tumble.

The only reason you could give for Ronaldo being far less effective back in the day is that he wouldn't know what to do with all the time and space he'd be afforded.

Different game now and impossible to compare. Ronaldo doesn't have to worry about the physical side of the game at all. If an atom from a defender goes near him, he's down, he gets the free kick, he gets up, he scores. He wouldn't have got that leeway in the good old days. I'd like to see him sprint down the wing knowing he's going to get cropped. He'd chicken probably.
I can't imagine that anyone who has seen both Ronaldo and Best would class Ronaldo as the better player. Clearly, he's the better athlete but then who knows what Best would have been like had he been playing now. All conjecture.
I only hate Ronaldo when he's diving and whinging for free-kicks. When he's on the rampage and sticking to the positive things he does so well, he's brilliant. If you don't enjoy that (albeit previously in ManU colours), you're watching the wrong sport. Or lying.

Ain't you a big dick now with that condescending tone. There's more to football than what Ronaldo does. A big part of his game depends on his athleticism and seen on many occasions especially against us, when he is double-teamed, he does not have the guile nor the intelligence to make an impact. If anything, i would admire he's athleticism and going as far to say that other players are far more enjoyable to watch.
