BARCELONA – fresh from signing Javier Mascherano – will launch a £100million double swoop for Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres next summer.

That’s the amazing claim of Nou Camp midfielder Xavi.

The World Cup winner reckons the Catalan giants are determined to land the two Spanish superstars.

Barca swooped for Liverpool’s Argie midfielder Mascherano in a £22m deal at the end of last week.

And Xavi reckons they are determined to raid the Premier League again in 2011 for Liverpool striker Torres, 26, and Arsenal captain Fabregas, 23.

Madrid-born Torres has been chased by Chelsea and Manchester City – but has told friends he will only move back to Spain. Barcelona-born Fabregas has publicly asked for a move back to his hometown club – but Arsenal rejected a £29m offer for their free-scoring skipper.

Xavi, 30, said: “Every Barcelona player wanted Cesc to join this year – we made no secret of that.
“But we are prepared to wait another year.
“Everybody in football knows where Cesc’s heart is.

“He’s from Barcelona and was a youngster at the club. It’s not like we have to try to convince him to join – it’s where he wants to be.

“Arsenal have him for another year and, during this season, they will have time to either *develop one of their younger players or scout a replacement to buy when Cesc leaves. *Everybody is very calm.

“We know the longest we have to wait for Cesc to come home is another 12 months.

“Everybody can live with that. We would love Nando at Barcelona too – he is the most complete striker in the world.

“We have seen what he and David Villa can do for Spain and to have that every week at club level would be frightening.

“I believe he is getting quite disheartened.â€

And Xavi is scathing about Torres’ club prospects for this season.

The Spaniard had a close look at Liverpool as the Merseyside club dumped Barca out of the Champions League in 2007 – the season before Torres joined.

And Xavi added: “The season before last Liverpool sold Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid – and now this season they have sold Mascherano.

“Being brutally honest they haven’t brought any top-class players in to replace the ones they have sold.
“They haven’t tried to improve the squad.

“Nando deserves to be playing with the best players like he does with Spain.
“If Liverpool have another disappointing season that will be it for him.â€

If the striker were to leave, Xavi has no doubts about where he would choose to move to.

He added: “Our coach Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Nando.

“If he wanted to leave next summer, I would imagine Barcelona to be very much in the running.

“It would cost a lot to bring both Cesc and Nando to the club – but it would be worth it and, in my opinion, make us virtually unstoppable.â€

As for lining up alongside new Argie signing Mascherano this season, Xavi feels Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson had no option other than to sell.

Xavi has played for Barcelona his entire career – with over 500 appearances – as well as 95 Spain caps.

He has five La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues to his name and added: “It was public *knowledge we had made a bid for Mascherano.
“It just came down to Barcelona and Liverpool agreeing terms.

“Liverpool were in the weak position because their player didn’t want to play for the club.

“The player’s family was unhappy in England. There was no point trying to keep him.â€

Sorry as classy as Barcelona are at the moment, they are really starting to get on my nerves with all this whoring themselves, we are the greatest team in the world, snoogy doogy should play for us, etc etc. It's borderline indirect tapping up of players!

The Fabregas thing annoyed me, then Messi's comments about Mascherano took the piss further, now this!!!

Something should be done about this, clubs are threatened over tapping up players but it seems their players can act as a mouthpiece for the club and say what the fuck they like (and on that note, Reina was bang out of order over Fabregas too during the WC celebrations). At the end of the day, players are an extension of the club. If a manager can't say these things, the rule should apply to the players too.

I've always hated Madrid for this sort of thing, I used to have alot of respect and admiration for Barca, but it's evaporated this Summer.

They are starting to become such tedious dispicable bores. I've always utterly despised Real - but for the first time ever - want them to trounce these pompous Catalan cunts.

Ditto. Their players are becoming the most arrogant bunch of pricks in football (and that's saying something).

I'm fed-up of these yapping cunts too.

They can get fucked, I used to like them but they are not the most annoying cunts in football. No one left to cheer for in Spain it seems...

I've never given a fuck about Barcalona, and I certainly am not going to start now.

This is nothing new for them. They never ever stop talking in the press and it's just so unnecessary. Everyone knows Fabregas is going to move next summer, there is no need to harp on about it all the time and disrespect Arsenal. Same thing about Liverpool (although he's sadly right in his analysis).

That said, there is still no way whatsoever they're worse than Real who are the epitome of evil.

i think the papers are simply jumping on these opportunities..

There is a large element of fact in what he has said... i think its good to have players speak their mind..

however.. i think in this situation they need to be more considerate towards the positions of Fabregas and Torres. These honest declarations to the papers are simply putting more pressure on the players to reassure the fans. I doubt Torres and Fabregas would be particularly happy with these comments as it simply fuels the British tabloids and turns their fans against them.

There is clearly a new found confidence/arrogance at the Nou camp and it will only backfire on them eventually.

I find it hypocritical to start whining about Barca and there big mouth players tbh. When we were top dog many many moons ago we would regularly poach the best talent from smaller clubs and like it or not that is exactly what we are until our two problems are sorted. Not a word of what he says there about us is untrue we are a de-facto selling club because we are weakening and unable to strengthen and have been that way for over a year, Striker anyone? How bout a good leftback?

Fuck me ..... Our players are taking pay cuts to get away.

Before I even read that I knew it'd be a load of cynical, exaggerated bullshit.

When we poached in the past, I never relished seeing us do it, whether we did it as a club is irrelevant, I don't see many fans loving us doing it and rubbing it in the noses of the opposition. We got our comeuppance with the three I can remember off the top of my head, in Ziege, Kewell and Keane, because they were all fucking shit in the end.

What has us not signing a striker or a left back got to do with anything? You were carrying on like this weeks ago. Has the window even closed? We've just brought in a quality central midfielder, we've done what we can over the left back situation, and signed Poulsen to add some depth. If he (Xavi) wants to talk about us as a club and he thinks we're struggling, FINE, he doesn't have any right to blatantly assess that we're gonna do shit and Torres would then have every right to join them.

By the end of the transfer window we could well have gotten rid of the majority of the deadwood and brought in a few good players, we've already added a few. Regards being a selling club, I guess the fact Ronaldo fucked off to Madrid makes United a selling club too?

Quit with the hyperbole.
Fuck Barca, fuck Real.
In a nutshell.

Quit with Hyperbole mark eh....

Let's try a few facts then, the team has had zero net investment for 4 transfer windows on the bounce, you may be expecting a great striker to arrive alongside Konchesky before Tuesday, but well, you've already called me a cynic, I am not.

As for you not appreciating us poaching players from other clubs back in the day .... Now that is bullshit. As for united ... Stronger than us they are but the debt they are under has certainly affected their transfer policy, selling club may be an exaggeration for sand forthem but you would be hard pushed not to admit that we are considerably weaker and carry on selling.

The problem,Molby is that you go on a very predictable tangent.

*We are owned by the Scum of the Earth and we should have never sacked Rafa and we are doomed to relegation unless the Scum of the Earth die a horrible death and the new owners bring back Rafa and give him piles of cash*

We are owned by scum, though.

I too am very disappointed with the new manager, to be honest..he's made some mistakes which seem all too familiar..

However, he does seem to have spotted and is *trying* to address them, if anything I wish he had more money.

Incidentally, how do you figure zero net investment for 4 transfer windows?

It's true it is a predictable tangent I accept that, I'm not meaning to wind mark up I just can't be arsed with the predictable shit like this thread, like it or not it is hypocritical for LFC fans to cry foul about sharp practice in the transfer market. I think barca are complete cunts but whining about it and suggesting something must be done about it ... Cmon really.... Up and until we get this nightmare sorted out we are powerless to complain that other clubs should shut the fuck up and not look to take advantage is just pathetic posturing on our part. I am hopeful that something good will happenfor our club before long but I'm also pretty fucking sure that unless it does we will not be buying superstars but we will keep selling them.

4 windows staring with the Keane transfer.

They are looking fookin ridick tonight. It could be 0-6 or summat here.

For sure. Villa's goal was good too. Didn't think his first was offside either.

Good luck Javier.

Van Der Vaart didnt even make the Madrid 18.

Come on Roy, get your fucking bid on.
Ahem, please add me to the Army.

I was just considering the options Real have whilst watching the game and it's ridiculous.

For the AM position they have Kaka, Canales, VDV, Ozil and possibly Granero.

I think there is a big chance Kaka could be sold next summer.

Mallorca are playing some good football and coping quite well so far.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable Higuain / Ronaldo goal.

That big, successful clubs raid the talent of smaller, less successful is neither news, nor the reason behind most peoples' ire here, MT.

When we ruled the world, you never heard Alan Hansen or Ronnie Whelan simply volunteer that Aldo or Digger or Beardo would be here soon, 'cos Oxford and Watford and Newcastle were shite, and unable to match their ambitions.

We just bought them. We didn't have this whole, annual song and dance in the press about it.
