Had a quick browse but can't see a pre-existing ratings thread.. I was at the game and what a game it was.. Most exciting in ages..

Reina - 7 - Put under a fair bit of pressure and kept his cool throughout.. Although not many shots on target to save he was still calm and organised the defence well.

Kelly - 8 - Very solid. Some great challenges and offered a lot going forward. £20mill player easily.
Carra - 8 - Again very solid. Made one or two highly noteworthy challenges and a performance we've come to expect over the years.
Skrtel - 7 - Not quite Agger.. Offered little going forward. Kept the defense tight though..
Johnson - 8 - In the final 20minutes nearly every attack went through him. As soon as he got the ball down the left there wasn't any doubt on whether he was going to be able to beat his man.

Maxi - 6 - Did fuck all. Bottled it when he should've shot..
Merieles - 8 - One bit of particularly tasty skill and a well taken goal (again!).. Shame he wasn't feeling 100%..
Lucas - 6 - Caught in possession too many times.
Aurelio - 7 - Did well when moved into the centre and was a offered a threat in the final third - something Maxi seemed incapable.

Kuyt - 7 - Started brightly but looked very tired prior to his substitution.. Some horrendous first touches..
Suarez - 8 - Great debut. A constant threat and every time he got the ball you thought something was going to happen.. Deserved a goal.. Now all he needs to do is learn English..

Subs:
N'Gog - 7 - did well after coming on, held up the play and was a bit of a menace in the opposition half..
Jovanovic - 4 - What the fuck did he do for 20 minutes?

We could've had 4 goals and Stevie was missed greatly.. 13 shots and 8 corners..

Anyone think they'd be able to get me two tickets together for the Spurs game in May?

It wasn't an exciting game. It was pretty average stuff really.

Their goal came from poor defending by Johnson - he really didn't close down his man

Reina - 7 - Solid & dependable as always
Kelly - 8 - Good defending. Good going forwards.
Carra - 7 - Good defending in general and less hoofing although it's still there
Skrtel - 6 - Half decent
Johnson - 7 - Good going forwards, shite defending for their goal
Maxi - 5 - A bit shit really
Merieles - 8 - Lads a good player and we missed him when subbed
Lucas - 5 - Poor performance and expected far too much time on the ball which he wasn't given.
Aurelio - 6- OK.
Kuyt - 6 - Poor for him really. Managed to attempt to pass a ball through physical matter i.e. the defender on several occasions. Not at his best
Suarez - 8 -Lads a level above. If some of his team mates get on his wavelength it will be exciting stuff to watch

Subs:
N'Gog - 5 - Another performance akin to a dog chasing a balloon round a windy park. Time to give Pacheco a chance
Jovanovic - 4 - Laughable. The Belgian league must be abysmal

I really didn't think Jovanovic would be that bad. Who ever scouted him must surely have gotten the sack.

Must be moved on.

Spot on Sunny, you may even be a little generous to Dirk. How many times did he hit a blue shirt with the ball? His first touch was even gasher than normal, the move almost certainly broke down whenever Dirk got involved, I would not say he was any better than Maxi..

When we were left with a Central Midfield of Aurelio and Lucas, the writing was on the wall. Kenny's substitutions made sense, only until the two useless twats set foot on the pitch, oh how we missed Shelvey being available.

I say it again, the litmus test of our progress will be when Lucas and Dirk are warming the bench more often than not. Thank God Kenny seems to see these things, and does not have much option at the moment.

regards

Yup...i agree with Sunny and Vlad.

Kuyt was very disappointing. On quite a few occasions he wasted a golden chance to send someone through on goal or squandered the opportunity to retain possession at threatening areas.

Lucas demonstrated why he should be no more than a Squad player at best for side with title aspirations. There will never be a day where we would say Lucas was missed. Others can easily do the job that he does. When Gerrard/Agger etc are missing from the match day squad is exactly the kind of time we need Lucas to stand up and deliver - dictate the game, but he simply doesn't have it in his arsenal.

I forgot how many times I groaned in losing the ball and failing to complete a pass when we tried to attack!

Merieles was on form,
Suarez, what a player despite not being 100% fit
Reina, Carra, Johnson and Kelly deserved a mention

apart from them I cannot remember anyone merit anything above 6
Milan was the invisible substitute.

I try to stay away from the debate from Lucas because I not particularly impressed by him, but I don't hold him in the contempt that some do.

But to hold the Wigan match as an example of how poor Lucas can be, is a little michievous, given that of the other players involved in internationals, only Skrtel and Johnson survived the full 90. I have no doubt that the poor lad was fucked, he was only jogging for the last half an hour. Had Shelvey been fit, he would have certainly come on at some point for Lucas. But the effort on Saturday was to me, more an indictment on a relentless international schedule than the quality of our team.

Maxi and Lucas in particular were bad.

Kuyt wasn't good either.

Suarez looked boss and both Aurelio and Maxi should be ashamed of themselves squandering the two first golden freekicks opportunities, pulling ranks on Suarez. They never should take another freekick. Suarez, Gerrard, Raul and even Agger should be ahead of those two in the pecking-order.

Jovanovic. Not a Liverpool-player by any means. Don't want to see him play again for us. Ever.

Kelly and Carra were both very good too.

And N'Gog was a bit of fresh air actually. Kept the ball well and used his physique too. Good cameo.

A bit unlucky not to win but we certainly lacked quality in our play overall.

That's a bit harsh on Aurelio, he has proven he is capable of scoring from free kicks in the past

I was unable to watch the game, what was the formation we played?

I was a little dissapointed that he didnt risk putting on Pacheco in the end instead of Jovanovic.

Lucas seem to be beefing on some confident boost these days (At leastwe can thank Roy for bringing in Poulsen there :laugh🙂 and it nearly cost us. He must learn that he is not alone on the pitch and move the ball on faster. He will be pressed when playing CM. He almost messed it up big time on a few occacions.

I can actually only remember him scoring from one freekick ever?

The first one against Wigan Aurelio hit high and wide in abysmal fashion and with Suarez obviously asking to take it only for him to be sent away (also happened on the second kick Maxi curled well over) made me fume even more.

Chelsea and the Mancs are two that come to mind straight away

My bad then. I often feel frustrated by his efforts but apparently I've forgotten a few highlights of his then.

Anyways I'll stand firm though. No way he should take our free-kicks ahead of Suarez. Whenever I watched him for Ajax his freekicks always impressed me and more often than not they were a real threat.
