Why so negative?

Besides, if everybody's fit, the MF will Gerrard and Poulsen / Lucas, with JC behind FT.

Why do so many of you paint the worst possible picture..? Yes, it MIGHT to pear shaped, but we could have been looking at a team minus Gerrard, Torres, Cole as well as Mascher, so there's some reasons to not be suicidal, at least.

We played well against a very good Arsenal. Then we got well beaten by a team that may well contend for the title, but with legitimate reasons to explain some of it. We also made it through a tricky UEFA Cup tie with half a team.

It's not as bad as it could be. If the alternative is giving up already, I'll be positive for a little while longer, thanks.

The shape of things to come will be much clearer by Wednesday as it stands this summer looks like another backwards step but we have a couple of easy 3 points to lift the spirits I suppose

Sorry I'm one of those c***s vlad, but to suggest we are in anything other than a horrible situation is wrong we knew mascher was going doesn't make it any better for us. We have kept Torres that's good and I really like joke hole n think he will do well for us but it's not enough we are now competing with spurs and city and as it stands we are behind both

I'm with you... I feared we wouldn't see any of the Mascherano fee and (touch wood) it looks like that won't be the case. Plus it's not just anyone we're signing... Meireles has the potential to be very good for us.

I think the closing of the window will be huge for us... we can finally put the rumours of ins and outs to bed and Hodgson can work with whatever we've got come September 1. If we win all (or at least nearly all) the matches we should, which was always a problem under Rafa, I like our chances of sneaking back into the Champions League spots. It's not really where we want to be at the end of the day, but it would be the first step.

Citeh are going to be competing with Chelsea.
United are going to be 3rd this season.
We are competing with Arsenal & Spurs.

With a backbone of Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Cole, Carra, Agger, Johnson and it now seems Meireles and good support in Maxi, Jova, Kuyt, Kelly, Pacheco & Poulson we have a decent enough team to compete with those two if we can stay relatively clear of injuries. Injuries fucked us last season and with a paper-thin squad could do the same this.
