We almost beat Arsenal with 10 men.

We won 2 tricky games against Trasponspor, who are by no means an easy side.

We lost to Man City because the team plans got thrown out the window at the last second.

I think if the City game hadn't happened, we would all be feeling quite happy at the moment.

If Poulson is Lucas' replacement and theres a new midfielder on the way in to replace Mascher, and we somehow get a striker who doesn't miss the sitters N'gog has.

Won't will have stepped up? As first team and as a Squad, Cole for Benny, Poulson for Lucas, Someone for N'Gog Someone for Insua, and someone for Mascher.

If the last 3 happen before the deadline, everyone before the season started would be delighted (all knowing Macher was a gonner from last season)

The City result knocked the wind out of everyones sails, at least everyone I've spoken to.

We've failed to look convincing in any of the games we played in so far. We lack fluidity, goal threat and ability to maintain possession - all issues that plagued us last season. On top of that, we still need a LB, LW, CM and ST - all problems that were well known to us last season.

In short, not a lot has been resolved and other than blind optimism that things will be okay, there is not a whole lot to hold onto.
yeah. Problem is I don't see this all happening mate. Poulsen IS Mascheranos replacement so it's Konchesky and hopefully a budget striker. I don't think it's enough.

I don't think being touch ngo against Transportcaff with 10 minutes to go alleviated the cloud of being wanked on by Citeh the other night.

hang on dont forget ALL money raised form player sales was be spent on improving the squad.

By my reckoning we've got about £30-35m to spend. Today ! Closing down sale ! One day only....

Mahamadou Diarra will be Machers replacement, a Gypsy read it in my tea cup ( She was well good because I use T Bags)
If by some miracle we pull (eg) Diarra, Van der Vaart and Trezeguet out of our asses in the next 3 days then yeah I'd be fairly positive again. Wed still be a LB and a back up RB and (surprise surprise) some fucking widemen shy but fuck it. It would have to do. But I think poulsen and gerrard IS our miffield. Meaning loadsalucunt!

Thanks for the "big summer" Tom, you twat.
Big summer. Edge of seat signings. All the fucking same. More misery. More heartache.
How much money have we wasted on interest payments this last 4 years? 100m? More?

I think you'll find our happiness was inversely related to how many games we'd played last season as well.

I'm not going to assume we've magically improved, when we haven't.
We get it Al. You've been miserable as fuck for longer than anyone else. Now 'stop' going on about it.

I'm negative because we played that robot team and though the movement looked good we were playing a crap side that had nothing going forward.
We did well against Arsenal sure, but the other three games we have not played well at all.
The negativity comes from selling another great midfielder, we have also lost Aqua who I was hoping would do well.

We are no closer to resolving any of the club financial issues, and we are quickly slipping behind the other teams in the top four, so much so that soon enough we will be happy if we are playing European football at all.

FWIW I am with you Asbo.

I will see what has happened by next Tuesday and give it a few weeks to see how things are.
It's not as if we were not expecting Mascher to go, and it's not as if we were not expecting two fucking tough games to start the Premier League, or an easy ride against the Turks (which we did with half a team)
I tell you one thing though, it is certainly not the doomsday scenario some where painting a few weeks ago.
Some people want to man-up a bit and stop fucking whining like pre-menstrual women (that leaves you out Neets) it's starting to get on my fucking tits.

I was one of Maschers biggest fans right from the start - right through all the "what does he bring to the team" shite, to the "he can't pass" bollocks, he was the first name I would look for on any team sheet. I knew he was going and could see the reasons. It is a big loss to me the way he acted for the City game and can't forgive. We have lost a few million on his real worth, but on the great scheme of things that is not the end of the world.

So, if I can still be fairly up-beat at the moment so can a few other cunts

regards

The bandwagon has started to trundle and I'll jump aboard. I've been felling better about us since we finished last season.

We just really need to buy someone, and fast. If we end up with Konchesky we'll finish 10th.

Make way at the back there - here come da judge too. Remember Istanbul. 8)

We need 4 players, and there are 4 days left of the transfer window.

We could have been waiting for the Mascher money before making a move, and could have sounded out potential moves already.

Will it happen? Probably not.

It's just a huge 4 days now isn't it? We can sign a Defour and a Huntelaar or we could sign a Ben Arfa and a Luke young. Or we could do nothing. It's just huge, and given how wrong every transfer window seems to go for us I'm bricking it. No deals ever get done on a weekend so it's Monday to save our asses.

Well said Vlad.

There are positives : Joe Cole, SG & FT staying, Pacheco who already looks the part and who I reckon is going to have a fantastic season, Kelly - who looks first team material already, and Jova (who looks good when fit) plus Lucas is not going to be a first choice MF this season.

Purslow & Hodgson both said 2 in before the window closes (after Jones' signing) so Konchesky & a striker (which were our achilles heels last season). Then there is the January and if we have been sold then I can see us really getting stuck into that transfer window.

Better than last season and maybe good enough to challenge for 4th.

Simply because all our hopes were especially hinged on the club getting sold quickly which didn't happen.

We were upbeat about our performance after the Arsenal performance. The Citeh performance highlighted our shortcomings and we consequently got spanked.

Sold another worldclass player without replacing him with a typically high quality replacement. Roy looking like he is only bringing in journeyman replacements!

There has been positives but the clouds continue to hover.

I think the fixture list has been seriously unkind to us, and we'll claw our way up, but I can't see us finishing fourth or better. No chance.

The best thing that happened to Liverpool this summer was ONeil walking out on villa meaning we have a better chance of 6th place this year. If our midfield for the majority of this season is a Poulsen and Lucas axis then even that may not be enough, never in the history of my 20 years following the club has the future looked so bleak, the rats are leaving the sinking ship and the investor talk seems to have dried up now that all the season ticket business has concluded.

We did well against Arsenal at home and then blew it, we got our pants pulled down by City and have had two hugely unimpressive wins over a 3rd tier European side, hardly the stuff of inspiration.
