Why is there a lack of South Asians in the game ?

Jesus, of course.
I wonder what the ethnic make up of the UK is?

If we find out, we could do a thread on picking a squad based on ethnic quotas. 25 players: 15 white, 5 black, 2 Asian, 2 Eastern European and an Irishman!

Bar 2 asians, that's pretty much our team from the CL winning season.

Smicer, Baros, Biscan (Eastern European)
Sinama, Cissé, Traoré, Diao (African or Black)
Finnan (Irish)

It'll be different in 10 years or so. When we start getting annoyed that all the south asian kids took our jerbs

Are you actually for real? India must have at *least* 250m people with a reasonable standard of living by world standards. It's the absolute number that matters, not the percentage. The comparison with Chad and Liberia is therefore fucking ludicrous.

Right... because increased poverty levels have absolutely no impact on government spending and social policy.

On a side note
[article=http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-brom-boss-steve-clarke-keen-to-unearth-british-asian-football-talent-8922154.html]West Brom are being lauded or discovering Saido Berahino, whose family fled to England from Burundi when his father was murdered in the civil war. But their manager Steve Clarke admits he would like to unearth a gem from the community on West Brom’s doorstep.

The Hawthorns is surrounded by a large Asian population and Clarke said: “There are six or seven now playing at the professional level. That is not enough. In the academy, out of 160 players only 12 or 13 are Asians, not a fantastic ratio.”

His only consolation: “I would imagine this is higher than other clubs.”

Clarke showed his support at last month's Asian Football Awards whilst West Brom have a trio of young Asian brothers, all signed after their father paid for the eldest, Adil, to attend a coaching course run by the club.

Adil, now 19, has played for England U17s but will be out until the new year after suffering cruciate ligament damage in pre-season. His younger brothers Samir and Rahis are also on West Bromwich’s books, with Samir on a scholar contract.[/article]
