Why Broughton, not Hodgson, now has the biggest say in Liverpool's future

Didn't think so, though I was hoping somebody would point out something I'd missed. So how much of the rest of this can we believe?

What I don't get though, if Broughton IS lying then why? What does he have to gain about lying about the owners position regarding approving a deal? Is he just trying to put pressure on them?

I don't think Broughton would put himself in the position to lie about anything.
He is hardly lilely to sully his position and reputation in the business world, over a short term, part-time position with a football club, that , if we like it or not, is pretty small fry, to what he usually deals with

regards

Maybe Broughton meant (though he didn't want to come out and say it in so many words) that, no matter what the owners' power on paper might be, in practice they can't stand in the way of a sale or RBS would step in straight away and call their loan in.

The irony of the Reds being in the hands of Blues fan is not lost on me. Broughton was appointed because of his reputation so I hope he gets the job done and quickly.

As for Roy, I like his level headed approach, now for the wheeling and dealing. Let the games begin!

The way he explained it was not that there could be no bids before a certain date, but that they put together their documentation on the finacial situation of the club, good and bad (i.e. not only the debt but the growth of certain areas of the business) and it was distribued to known interested parties with a sort of recommendation that the "first round of bids" should start in mid July.

My interpretation was that "interested parrties" would then be able to do their homework knowing that there's a bit of breathing space to do it.

I like the approach that they're talking to multiple parties and giving them access to information so the prospective buyer can make an informed decision.

I'm not sure what the criteria for the right buyer is? But I would like to know.
1. Reduce debt
2. Build stadium and;
3. Invest in squad must be at the top of the list.

According to Broughton a high bid is not the criteria, although obviously money is a requirement, it's also about building the stadium and developing the squad.

The entire existence of the club henceforth depends on this sale.

Broughton needs to get it right!

That is a positive article, fingers crossed that we get some genuine investment in finally, I remain sceptical because after the disaster we've been watching thats only natural and Hicks clearly is a very cunning snake of a man but.... yes thanks for posting that it has cheered me up a little.... its been so utterly wank for us recently you get to thinking that any light at the end of the tunnel is probably an oncoming train.
