Based on attitude, performance and actual talent. Who has shown this year that they deserve to stay?

Post Dalglish its almost easier to ask who deserves to go as so many players have perked up. That confuses things for me, I get the feeling some of our players are punching above their weight at the minute, the form v class thing.

Yeah, thats what im wondering. Spearing isn't a great player but if Dalglish can get him playing above his level ive no qualms with him staying.

Ya, fullback and centre mid is where my doubts lie.

Should we be happy with johnson and kelly? If we're on form it's fine and I think they're both very good players. But should we go through a rough patch it'll quickly turn into why are we playing a youngster (who came through as a centre back? and has the odd injury) and a defensively dubious right back on the left. Then we all get pissed off about not signing a top left back.

The same with centre mid, a year ago lucas was considered shit and spearing a championship player. Now we're considering one of the two possibly being an automatic starter and the other a backup. I like them both but again if we lose a few games, the negativity will return but if anyone can prevent that its kenny.

On the plus side kuyt has really stood out with suarez though, but I don't know exactly how that works with carroll and our plans of signing wingers?

Everyone bar Jovanovic, N'gog, Cole, Agger, Konchesky, The Greek and Aurelio.

Yup, such a shame about those two though

Contract wise, is the Greek's definitely ending this summer?

I'm not sure about Aurelio, could be good to have him around as back up if we buy another LB during the summer.
I'd also add Poulsen and Brad Jones (based on his performances at Derby).
Shame abut Agger though.

You cant rely on Aurelio being half fit. So if he was the back up you would need another back up as well.

Keeps

Reina

Flanagan
Kelly
Johnson
Skrtel
Carra
Robinson

Lucas
Spearing
Gerrard
Ming
Maxi (by the skin of his teeth)
Shelvey

Kuyt
Carroll
Suarez

So by that reckoning we need

1x LB - Enrique

1x CB (with the slim possibility of Agger staying) - Jones/Cahill

1x CM - McCarthy/Adam

1 maybe 2 Wingers

1 Striker

Almost agree with the above but Maxi can leave as well, unless he's going to er Mother some Spanish/Agrentine wunderkind.

Aurelio

He got a two year contract and so has another year left

well then hes here for another year cos if nobody wanted him for free last summer then I doubt they will be lining up to sign him this year

Aurelio should certainly go. I feel sorry for the guy, and he is a good player but because of his injury record he is totally useless.
You can't build a decent defensive unit around him and even as back up he can't be relied upon.

Same with Agger to a degree.

The likes of Jovanovich, Poulsen, Cole, Ngog, Konchesky and the Greek are either past their best or are just average.
