Reading the thread about the worst player Gerrard has played with and someone mentioned Plessis. Wiki'd him and he's now playing for LB Châteauroux in Ligue 2.
Which lead me to start this thread. Which Liverpool player or any player from any club were meant to be the next big thing but then faded away? The ones who you've forgotten about after all these years and is now plugging away in the Azerbaijan league.
Krisztián Németh, for example, is now playing for Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.
A classic example, Freddy Adu. Released by FK Jagodina in the Serbian league and is now without a club.
Who else was once a shining light but is now just a flicker?

I thought Le Tallec would have made it too. He must be angry at himself and the world. He won similar awards/accolades as a teenager to Cesc, Ronaldo and Messi.

He is, regrets leaving Liverpool.

Found this online...

The football world was forced to stand up and take notice of one Anthony Le Tallec. In May at the European U16 Championships in Spain, Anthony hammered home 5 goals as France advanced to the final. It was where Gerard Houllier first spotted the player whom he may well be building the Liverpool football club's future around.
If this tournament allowed Anthony Le Tallec to say hello to the world, the U17 Would Cup that September handed him a megaphone to scream his arrival from the highest peak.
He was a sensation as France romped to tournament success. Pongolle received the golden ball and boot, with Anthony weighing in with the silver ball awarded to the tournament's second best player.

Sounds like his mum wrote that.

I was surprised at what happened to Insua

Is he still at Atletico? Won a league title last year but i doubt he played much

One of my old favourites, Mark Gonzalez, now plays for Universidad Católica back in Chile, scoring a goal every other game.

Some others;

Nathan Ecclestone (who had a go at me on Twitter because the truth hurts) is now playing at Partick Thistle.
Charles Itandje is playing for some Turkish side called Torku Konyaspor
Sebastian Leto is playing at a Serie B team Calcio Catania
And the strangest one, Andrea Dossena is playing for Leyton Orient

Antonia Barragan in La Liga for Valencia is a bit more upmarket - scored against Real Madrid at the weekend too

Sean Dundee now works at bondi beach where he fetches coffee for the lifeguards. Finally a job where he can use his speed without being disturbed by a football.
