Interesting piece. Right at the end he's described as part Cantona, part Maradona and part Joey Barton! Not far off I'd say.

Some speculation about his immediate plans but all those expressing an opinion were very guarded. In truth I suspect they know Luis's mind about as much as we do, or even Luis does himself.

The Charrúa are an indigenous people of southern South America in Uruguay. Following the arrival of European settlers, the Charrúa were progressively killed by or integrated into the prevailing colonial cultures. Uruguayans refer to themselves as "charrúas" when in the context of a competition or battle against a foreign contingent. In situations in which Uruguayans display bravery in the face of overwhelming odds, the expression "Garra Charrúa" (Charrúan tenacity) is used to refer to victory in the face of certain defeat.

To compare him to Joey Barton is an insult.

Off the football field, he seems a quiet family man who goes about his life. Whereas Barton's behavior has been appalling!
