Winning seems normal.
We expect to win.
We play the type of football that makes you win games
The attitude of the players
The team ethic, group hugs, motivation.
Top draw manager.

This team can only get stronger.

YNWA.

The 'expecting to win' mentality thing carried utd over the line on more than one occasion.

Here's hoping!!

"Expecting to Win" ? - no that is not what carried United over the line. More so a willingness to Win by hard-work in most games and following the clear instructions of their manager. That is what did it for them until it became ingrained in their minds that that is what is needed to win games.

The 'Expecting to Win' bullshit is what destroyed LFC as a title winning team. Expecting to Win is not a mind set that gets you wins - it is more so that you believe that you play for this team and somehow by playing good/bad or whatever you expect to win the game. That is what happened during the 90's and despite the attempts of GH, and Rafa - it was too late because they focused on discipline and tactics which was required but we also required someone to man manage players which we finally have. The man management aspect is required to create a team-spirit and a mentality to win games. If you look at those years in the 90's you cannot but help think that players joined us on the basis of our past glories and all and expected that LFC would somehow change them or have that environment where they can just play and expect to win - it never happens like that.

I also think that there is a lot to be said about the Suarez effect and his never-say die attitude in games - the other players in the team would have looked at that and taken on some of that in their heads.

Look at Manchester United this season - same players as last but the difference is that they are a team who have lost focus due to the way in which Alex used to get into their heads to get the best out of them. They are playing this season by following instructions form Moye's but not necessarily giving it 100% - probably because they 'Expect to Win'.

you may be confusing expecting to win, with entitled to win. the former is great, the latter not so much.

No - no confusion. We as fans have always expected to win. The player's don't have that right - they need to have the willingness to win games our glorious past was built on that. Right now - those players to a man know - it is "In their Hands" to win the title - so they are going out each giving 100% to win the game.

Yeah I don't quite agree, every top sportsman and team has a confidence about them, that confidence is more the 'expectation' than entitlement you speak of.

The expectation of those sportsmen has to be backed up by a strong level of hard-work and commitment. That is what has been missing in the title-less years.

I don't think so. Rafa's teams were hard working as was Geds. skill and ability were the issues, and much more..

in terms of skill, confidence, ability and mental strength, this team seems more like the real deal.

Rafa had the skills in his team, and to this day I consider the spice-boys teams of the 90's as one of the best but for their attitude. As you say - they worked hard but I don't think that many of them had strong sense of purpose mainly because they were not man-managed in the head.

I expect them to expect them to win but expect the expectation might become too much if we all expect them to win.
I expect this will only get worse the nearer we get to Sunday.

You only win by instilling a "Winning" mentality.....

Winning mentality is the cornerstone of everything Liverpool FC did in the past to win so much.... its good that Brendan has that and a positive attitude....

Couple that with his obvious tactical brilliance and you have the formula for success.
