United will eat shit in that scenario because they have scored the least number of goals and can't make up 20 goals in 4 games. They can't even score 20 goals in 14 league games (really - go check their stretch of results), never mind 4.

Highest number of goals scored wins if they Points and the goal difference is Equal.
How many times is this going to have to be explained on here?
Will first of all be settled by Goals scored.
Should teams finishing 3-4 or 4-5 or even more unrealistically 3,4 and 5 all have same number of points + same goal difference + same goals scored/conceded, then a play off will be played between those teams at a neutral location. Head to head records to not count in the PL.
This is because it has a knock on effect to Champions League qualification, i.e. 3rd goes straight into group stages whereas 4th goes into qualification. Same with 4th and 5th for Champions League + Europa League.
However if Utd win the Europa league and finish on the same as the other two teams, only two teams would require the play off for Champions League qualification exemption place, as Europa League winners automatically qualify for CL group stage.
I hope this clears it up.
Echo had an article on this yesterday that said that in the event City and us are tied on all the tiebreakers, there will be a playoff (format and venue yet to be decided).

Read the permutation when Leicester was still in contention for big ears. Now, that they're out of it, if United win Europa League and finish 4th. Does 5th place get into CL?

If that's the tiebreak for every game, the EPL top 4 would probably include LFC (Klopp), West Ham (Bilic), West Brom (Pulis) and Crystal Palace (Fat Sam). Arsenal would be relegated, as would Man United.
There was a thread on this a few years back, perhaps it needs an update.
