What do we need in Jan Window?

Klopp has said he does not like the Jan transfer window but with Mane out for international duty and many of our players will suffer from fatigue sooner or later which parts of team needs further reinforcement?
Mkhitaryan is not getting games and knows Klopp's system, should he be a player on the radar?

Mkhitaryan would be nice - but won't happen. Fatigue shouldn't be such an issue as we have only 1 game a week. It would be great to get another Mane-esque player, but in reality I see very little happening in January.

Bruma is Mane-esque. There was talk about Hirving Lozano signing for Man Utd at the start of the season. The guy has some interesting stats

We ran into a bit of 'problem' when Lallana and Wijnaldum both failed to make the starting XI against Man Utd.

We were reportedly prepared to scout on Ruben Neves in Porto's CL clash against Club Brugge but he was involved.

With Lucas' contract expiring at the end of the season and the likes of Stewart, Grujic not quite ready to push for a starting XI role yet, bringing in a CM will also
  • prepare for next season (a little similar to how the likes of Baros, Agger and Skrtel joined in Jan transfer window)
  • perhaps allow players like Stewart, Grujic and Ejaria to go out on loan and gain valuable first team experience
In terms of attacking players, ideally Ojo, Brannagan, Wilson (Kent out on loan) will get to stake their claim. Wijnaldum can also be moved into a more attacking position as alternative if a CM is signed.

Like I said in another thread, it's more likely that we'll get rid of a few players.
Sakho and Ings to be more precise.

What we need is another attacking winger.

I could see us getting Dahoud who seems to be not in favor with his manager at the moment. That would increase the competition around the CM slots. Although it's already pretty fierce with Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana and Grujic all vying for the same couple of spots (and the likes of Brannagan and Ejaria waiting in the wings).

Sturridge's lack of goals this season is a bigger problem, but we should give him (and Origi and Ings) a chance until January before we hit the market again.

I know we are well stocked in the attacking midfielder positions, but saw a Dortmund game and loved Pulisic. He is such an impressive attacker. He doesn't have electric pace or an arsenal of trickery but for someone so young he has an telepathic understanding of the game. Kinda like De Bruyne and Alonso, takes the right decision - pass, dribble, run - each and every time. He still has not signed an extension and loves Klopp and the admiration is mutual.

Would love him in our side.

Yeah, but no chance of getting him in January. Summer at the earliest.

I doubt Klopp will be targeting anyone at this stage. If however we are at the top, or thereabouts, come January then it would not surprise me at all to see one or two come in (esp. Dahoud if he is available) to strengthen and give us the extra push we may need. Strengthening would be midfield, wing or LB. We won't be getting a top striker in January.

Dahoud in January. If we dont have any injuries then nothing else.

Pulisic, left back with Moreno leaving and a quality striker in the summer.

Dont need a goalkeeper unless Ming leaves. And if he leaves maybe Ward gets a chance.

He's a United supporter. Haven't seen enough of him to determine if that's worth overlooking. Or whether he would consider us.

I would also seriously consider a full-back in January. Clyne and Milner are fine, but do we have enough quality cover for them? I'm not so sure. Definitely don't want an injury to disrupt a season that's going so well.

I'd love a striker that is completely ruthless, fast and plays the Klopp way. I was watching Firmino closely against WBA and although I love him, he's definitely not got a striker's instincts. There were times when it was clear that a ball was likely to come across the box and instead of running across defenders he just stayed behind them. It was infuriating. He just doesn't have that thing great strikers have of knowing where to run a second before the defenders do. Also, he doesn't seem able to outpace anyone remotely fast. So I'd like that to be sorted. I'd still play Firmino in 90% of games but we definitely don't have a great cutting edge with him up front. (awaits goal deluge in his next appearance). I'd love a look at Ings to see if he has it.

I'd love a midfielder who can help us to kill a game. I know we're better at it than we used to be, but I'd still love to see an Alonso type come in who can speed things up and slow things down, and can win a few soft free kicks at key points (a la Hamann) and has a clue about when to do each. I don't think Can or Henderson will ever be that player.

I'd love us to sell Mignolet and buy a good 30 year old keeper who knows his shit and realizes this is his only shot and how not to fuck it up. Karius to the bench until his goalkeeping puberty is over.

I'd like to get rid of Moreno and buy a Finnan type left back, even if we still play Milner for most games.

I'd like us to sell Sakho, Ilori and any other CB baggage and bring in a genuinely promising, and perhaps even British, center half. Oh wait, maybe that's Joe Gomez. Nice one Brendan.

Gene - you da f*cking man !!! - I gave you a LIKE for the above. Agree on everything - and especially regarding Firmino - really is kinda slow - we know he has skills but takes forever sometimes. Still ponders too much on the ball. I want that fucker that Boro have up front.

@King Binny what do you think on Burma and Giving Lozano? Would they be a Klopp type of buy? Who do you think is out there that Klopp would want? At Dortmund he had DoF having the final say, he doesn't have the same level of help here.

1) Aubumeyang, Morata, Luciano Vietto? Buying great strikers is the hardest thing in football. Let's see if Ings or Origi can fill the need. Or we'll just have to wait until Woodburn grows up 🙂
2) Lucas 🙂
3) No ideas. Bringing experienced GKs from other leagues is risky (see: Bravo, Valdes) and I don't quite see anyone like that in England.
4) Isn't Clyne kind of a Finnan type right-back? In this case ideally I'd love to get a Roberto Carlos/Dani Alves type left-back (if Moreno doesn't turn it around).
5) Niklas Sule does look good this season. But he probably won't move unless we offer a realistic chance of first-team football.

A keeper for sure. And please hold onto INGS and give him a chance. Why hasn't he figured so far?
