What can we expect from Jota this season?

Not really since it hasn't taken Jota
5 years to come good.
More to do with the fact that he can't really be considered first choice any more. Not sure he'll be happy playing second fiddle

Who is nailed on as first choice in our attack bar Salah?

Firmino - in decline and has less than 12 months left
Nunez - has no experience in the league or this team.
Diaz - had a good start then sort of tailed off, exciting to watch but needs a serious step up this year
Jota - streaky but effective goal scorer who doesn't have a nailed down position

Diaz will be first choice on the left for the majority of games I’d imagine. Unless Klopp decides to play Nunes there. Which I doubt.

I’m sensing that many of you have Diaz in front of Jota. Not sure that’s the case and I’ll be expecting a fit again Jota to start scoring for fun again
Diaz is absolutely ahead of Jota because it's not just about goals but pace, wing play and tracking back. Diaz is a bona fide Mane replacement which Jota could never be. Not to ignore Jota's value to the team/squad but he just isn't that type of player.

How exactly did Diaz “tail off” - he was very arguably our best player in the FA Cup Final and excellent in the run in.

Surely you aren’t judging it solely on the Champions League Final?

He was knackered. Didn’t he play the most minutes in world football or somewhere close to the top of it?

I don't see them as being direct competitors in that way. I expect Diaz to play predominantly on the left and Jota predominantly down the middle.

Agree... Out of the three; Salah, Diaz, and Jota, Jota I feel is better suited to play up the middle. So the way I see it is it is about how long we take (or he does) to get Nunez up to speed.
This is presuming Bobby is sold. Which is not a given. One of Klopp's favorites

No not at all. I remember reading he got about 3 goals in the last 15 games. If he is the Mané replacement long term then he's got to be looking at 20 goals a season. I wanted us to sign Diaz and I'm glad we got him, but the standards of this team are very high and he needs to deliver more in terms of end product this season.

I think this year is arguably the most unsettled our first XI has been in some time. There are far less players who are 'guaranteed' to start when fit than the previous couple of years. Diaz absolutely has the ability to become one of them but you have to earn that with consistent top class performances. He's not done that yet.

I think the plan is that Nunez will be the one getting the goals. Diaz, just like Firmino will act as the provider.

I’d agree that we probably need to see a little more end product - but he doesn’t need much to achieve Mane output - I mentioned somewhere else, Diaz scored 4 in 13 League games - so 12 goals a season would be a fair prediction - Mane’s average in the league for us was 15.

First full season, with a full pre-season - no need to think he won’t deliver.

[article]Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to secure Diogo Jota to a new contract.

Jota still has three years to run on his current deal.

However, talks are underway over a new contract, on the orders of manager Jurgen Klopp, says the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old is due back in training within a fortnight after aggravating a hamstring injury last month.

Last season, Jota scored 21 goals and made eight assists to help his side win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, as well as reach the Champions League final.[/article]

I think the signing of Nunez will be good for Jota, because his skillset aligns more with Darwin than Bobby/ Mane. If the team structure moves to accommodate a No. 9, it may well be mean Jota's numbers go off the charts.
