Two cup wins, Prem League runners up by a single point and Champions League runners up.

I’m drained, the players must be fucked.

Thanks a bunch to every single member of the squad, the management team, the support staff and the owners!

It's a great season but let's be honest, a tremendous letdown ... from perhaps one of the greatest teams ever to what this season has become ... two domestic cups and what ifs.
We go again next year ... let's win it all the time ...

Fantastic season and just a insanely good team.
The heart break is massive tonight but just to be in this situation is amazing.
More finals and trophies will follow.

Up the fucking Reds

Hard to take the end but a great season.

It's also hard not to have a bit of a knee jerk when thinking about next season. We don't need to do much but there is a temptation to start talking about flogging Mo and Mane for a front 3 rebuild and looking for someone to share the load Henderson has because Naby doesn't cut it.

MO is past his prime for sure - but he may be back.. Should have put that one on one chance away

Hmm, I don't remember a 1 on 1 unless you mean the right footed shot where he had a defender on him and still got a good shot away? Either way he was one of the brighter players tonight and is the golden boot winner, so he's not really a concern.

We desperately need some competition for Trent IMO.

it was as good a chance you'd get in a game like this. He's really gone downhill in 2022. Perhaps it's just fatigue.

Good season, not great for the standards we have reached.

Klopp said if I wasn't enjoying this season he couldn't help me. He couldn't help me. I don't like having must win games for months on end with games coming every 3 days. It's fucking dumb and it ground the team down. I'm sure having another kid and the sleep deprivation that came with it played a part.

I was pretty sure we'd lose this in much the way we did. We aren't as lethal up front, and crucially we are slower. But, we still make the concessions we always did that allow teams chances. Real aren't anything special but they are experienced with the right pieces in a few places. That'll win a cup.

Normally we can go to a new gear in terms of pressing for some games, but we don't have that gear at this stage in the season. We never really got into the sort of full possession we liked to, and we've lost our identity a bit with some of these cute flicks and central play. Hard whipped crosses from our fullbacks are what won us a league but now Trent is underlapping Salah. We needed to vary things up but instead we just lost our form.

There's a reason why klopp has binned off the domestic cups. Obviously I'm glad we won them, and this would be better than the vast majority of seasons in my lifetime, but the heroism involved in driving through tiredness isnt spectacular, and I think it just caught up with us against a team that ceased giving a shit about other games just long enough ago to rest up.

This team needs some younger legs now.

It was a brilliant season. Disappointing last week and today but it was fucking brilliant.

I'm gutted. Absolutely gutted. But this was the most complete season we have ever put together. It wasn't enough for the league or to bring home the European Cup, but in terms of overall performance we've never seen anything like it and we may never again.

We burned out over the last few weeks. Salah has been off the boil for months now. We might lose Mane. We need midfield reinforcements. But to feel like this is failure - more than just disappointment I today's result - is wrong.

Thinking about it now - it would have felt amazing to have won the quadruple, but it would not quite be reflective of this team’s place among other heavy-hitters. The reality is, there hasn’t been one dominant team in football this season. Us, City and Real Madrid are clearly the top 3, but it’s hard to say which one deserves to be #1. City are built for dominating leagues over 38 games, but have a mental weakness in knock-out games. Real won both their league and the CL, but they were outplayed and humiliated on numerous occasions. And we came just short for both big trophies, but were the only team in contention for everything until the end. So while this team is amazing, us winning the quadruple would have probably be a tad over the top… now that we’ve got the domestic cup hoodoo over with, next season let’s concentrate on winning at least one major trophy.

At the start of the season I said that minimum expectations were a domestic Cup, a respectable title challenge and at least QF in the Champions League.

We over achieved.

Next season my minimum expectations are we win either the Premier League or Champions League.

Let’s fucking overachieve again!!!!

I’m more than a little taken aback by some of you on here. We lost FOUR games in a year; two in the EPL (best in league) and two in the UCL, one of which was ultimately irrelevant.
Where have you been for the last 30 fucking seasons? What team has been better than this EVER?

FUCKS SAKE

Mo fucked me off but at the end of the day
I’m proud to be scouse and proud of them all
I have a hard time of that ‘always the victim role’

If you’re talking about the chance that left him punching the ground, then you’re nuts. Mo did everything he could on his weaker foot. It was a tremendous save.

We did need more moments like that from him though but you could say the same for Dias and Mane.

Yeah, I thought this was an absolutely brilliant forward’s play by Mo - in one touch he turned a half-chance into a 1 on 1. Too bad the shot grazed Courtois’s shoulder.

And yet Michael Owen, who can be very critical of strikers' attempts, said Salah did everything right in that instance (under pressure not a free run on goal) and sometimes you just have to accept it was a brilliant (or lucky since it came off the top of his arm) piece of goalkeeping.

Really?

We were Tyrone Mongs and an excellent goal keeping display away from a clean sweep.

A-

no not really bro, I think my sarcasm didn’t come through.

Honestly? That was the most impressive season any team in the prem has seen. Two cups and an absolute whisker from the league and champs league.
A*

It was a great season. One can brag about that and also note we weee flat in all three finals (no goals) as well as the league “final” against city at Maine road (lucky to get the draw).

It does feel like we eeked out results due to fatigue.this was just one game too many

I've been quite critical of him lately, and I thought the Final was the first time in two months that Salah played well. He looked better than Mane and Diaz, he looked better than our midfielders. In fact, he was one of the best players on our team I felt. If he scored, I would have given him MOTM

To be fair it’s not just 3 finals we’ve been flat in - it’s every final we’ve played in under Klopp.

I think I’m right in saying the only final we’ve won in regulation time was the CL Final against Spurs - when they dominated possession and created more chances - with us scoring a 1st minute penalty and a late Divock goal sealing it.

There’s something not right there.

Of course it can be rectified by smashing 4 past whoever we play in all the finals next year.
