Both sky and the been have been very nonchalant in their coverage of West ham fans s!ashing up the utd team bus, as if their scummy fans aren't an issue and have never been one ..

It'd spoil the night, wouldn't it, all them geezers there with the pies 'n' mash stories and gord bless 'em Bobby, Bonzo an' Brooking. So what if the fans smashed up a coach or two - there's always a rush for the jellied eels an' the stout at the good old Boleyn!

The unfortunate scenes before the game have made front and back pages across the media, and dominated the coverage.

"Ambush"
"Shameful violence"
"Anarchy"
"Mindless thugs"

West Ham have said that life bans will be handed out. Although this does jar a bit with David Sullivan's earlier statement, which appeared to blame United.

I"’m gravely disappointed, more for our supporters. What people forget is they’ve got trains and buses to get home and we’ve got a wonderful, wonderful show after the game for them. many just can’t stay any more.
United should have got here at 4pm. They know it’s our last game. They had the same problem at Tottenham a few weeks ago. I think the police and officials have been kind. I’d make them kick-off at 7.45pm if I was in charge. Asked directly about the unrest outside, Sullivan replied: “If you check the coach there won’t be any damage to it.”

Idiotic statement. He has a point about them being late, but it wasn't the time or the right context to use it in.

I suspect he said that before he saw all of the footage from inside and outside the bus, and realised a total shit-storm was brewing.

If United really cared enough, I think they could have a case for claiming the atmosphere and attack on the bus had a deleterious effect on their performance.

See what happens when i have to move posts ?

I think we should avoid being too self-righteous in relation to supporters of other clubs. The same kind of incident could happen at any club. I was hit on the head by a heavy bottle thrown by one of our own supporters at a final in Cardiff.

Well, yes, Ports, but are you saying we shouldn't be that bothered about any other fans acting like this because it might be our fans and we don't want our own thugs punished? If that kind of incident happens at any club, it's a disgrace. I'm not going to downplay it just in case it happens at Anfield.

People saying it spoiled or took the edge off a historic night for West Ham, which having been there a few times as an away fan I have to disagree with.

Can there be a more fitting goodbye to the Boleyn ground than the locals getting all antsy and smashing stuff up.... then collectively pogoing around singing "lets go fucking mental la laa la laa"?

Almost like they were practicing for the summer in France, where admittedly they'll be flashing their St George tatts rather than the 'ammers

It's idiotic. Even from a cynical standpoint, when UEFA hand out big fines for a few fans chanting 'Manchester is full of shit,' the club should take the initiative and be seen to condemn this stupidity.

Considering that it was outside the stadium can the club or the FA do something about it?
I mean isn't this a police matter?

Bunch of soft cockernee pussies. Here's Utrecht fans in 1981 helping out with demolition after the last match in their old stadium

Good point. I guess legally it's just a police matter, although there's surely nothing to stop a club taking some (informal) responsibility for its fans. After all, the club panicked pretty sharpish after Klopp encouraged fans without tickets to travel to Basel.

Yeah, well all they had to do to curb that was post a link to "average price of beer in Switzerland"

I don't want to drag this thread astray, but a 32,000 seater stadium in a tiny country that I'm fairly sure has THE most expensive beer on the entire planet. Seriously?

I think Norway wins on beer price?
