Really tough match considering our recovery time compared with theirs.

They have a lot of pace and obviously Carroll will be looking score. If he plays and is in the mood he'll be virtually impossible to stop.

We could really do with a blistering start.

Basing it on potential injures and tired legs I'd go with

Ming
Clyne
Lovren
Sahko (Toure)
Moreno
Lucas
Can
Coutinho
Ibe
Lallana
Benteke

I'd be tempted to start Tex as I really want to see him given a chance.

'virtually impossible to stop'

Are we talking about the same Andy Carroll who has scored a total of 9 league goals in the last 2 and a half years?

Yep, he's only been in the mood a handful of time. Remember when Stan Collymore was absolutely shite for Villa when he left us and then we played them and he was a super star in that game scoring two goals in a 2-1 win.

Carroll is a crock but he can certainly raise his game against us and did just score the winner the other day.

I think the difference is that Collymore was a very talented player with serious mental problems and some persistent injuries, when it 'clicked' nobody doubted his ability. Carroll is a mediocre perma crocked forward who peaked at 21 and has been slumming it for 3 or 4 years now.

Indeed his has been plagued by injuries too though and if any game can focus him it'll be a game against us.

Hopefully he doesn't turn up.

He's also a player who, in his fleeting moments of fitness, can cause damage. I think Pat's exaggerated the point a bit, but he's right to be concerned.

We will not win this game - please refrain from watching and spend quality time with your families. I can see another 3-0 humiliation coming our way in this game. Don't they have any injuries ? - I thought they were nearly all out injured or something ?

The Echo reported that he had to much pain from his heel to continue. Wouldnt surprise me if he had to sit this one out.

Lucas in though... Bahhh!
Bet you Lucas will play well and people claim he's the 2nd coming... no the 3rd, wait it's the 4th... hold on, how many seasons has he been with us?

JK: "We have to wait a little bit [on Henderson's injury]. It was the heel and it could be something good for him but we have to see." #LFC
Rupture?

Maybe Studge on the bench?

JK: Maybe Daniel (Sturridge) can come back on Saturday.

We could be 5th or 10th after this.

Carroll scores when he's in the mood? Which he's only been a handful of times?
Come on dude.

Masterly performance - straightforward, good-humoured, not giving anyone a hard time even when (e.g.at the end there) he thought the question was a bit daft. You can see why the media all seem to like him and why the players would too.

Only cloud on the horizon: that was a big vote of confidence he gave Achterberg there.

Sturridge ruled out of Liverpool FC trip to West Ham

Striker has not travelled to London while Jordan Henderson will also stay on Merseyside

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson have both been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham at Upton Park.
Neither Sturridge nor Henderson travelled with Jurgen Klopp's squad to the capital on New Year's Day.
Klopp had indicated that Sturridge could make his comeback against the Hammers having sat out the previous five matches due to a hamstring problem.
However, the decision was taken for the England striker to remain on Merseyside to continue with the “little pre-season” Klopp has tasked him with after making changes to his training routine.

Henderson was always a big doubt for the game against Slaven Bilic's men after limping off during the second half of Wednesday's narrow 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The Reds skipper is still troubled by the heel problem - plantar fasciitis – which sidelined him for three-and-a-half months earlier this season.

I'm guessing Lucas will start then.
Not feeling optimistic about our chances with him in midfield. Kouyate and Song will outmuscle him easily.

I'm not confident about this at all. West Ham have loads of physical, athletic players all over the pitch - not unlike Palace.

We haven't a chance matching them at their game.

The way to beat them is with pace and quality on the ball. Except with Benteke leading the attack, that's unlikely to happen. Was really hoping for Sturridge to be fit for this one.

I'd bring in Ibe for Firmino for this one. 4-2-3-1 with Lallana and Ibe on the wings, and Coutinho dropping into the hole.

---------------Mignolet
Clyne---Lovren--Sakho--Moreno
------------Can---Lucas
------Ibe----Coutinho---Lallana
---------------Benteke

We need to start this game strong and aggressive. Can't afford to be dilly-dallying around with the ball too much.

Ask Clyne, Moreno, Ibe and Lallana to hit those flanks hard, and get the early ball in as often as possible.

I want Coutinho in the hole, with the licence to drop deep. Can and Benteke need be told be as physical and aggressive as they can be from the first minute.
