Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm we will be offering our supporters subsidised travel to at least 10 Barclays Premier League away games this season.

Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay said: 'The support the team receives away from Stamford Bridge is always tremendous, and as a club we want to show our appreciation for the commitment our fans show week in, week out.

'Everyone knows the financial burden of following a football club and it gives us great pleasure to be able to help our fans to get to a large number of Premier League games outside London this season.'

We make our first trip on August 26 when we face Manchester United on Bank Holiday Monday, with train and coach travel already on sale to supporters for just £10.

On the day, coaches will depart Stamford Bridge bound for Old Trafford at 12.15pm, and Newport Pagnell at 1.45pm. A train will leave London Euston at 2.34pm and arrive back at approximately 2.34am. Train times are approximate and will be confirmed closer to the day.

Also on sale to season-ticket holders this Monday will be match tickets and £10 subsidised coach travel to our game at Everton on September 14. Full information can be found on the ticket information section of our website.

Subsidised travel will also be offered for Newcastle United on November 2 and Sunderland on December 4.

Further information and matches will be announced when ticket news becomes available.

LFC really should follow suit and help out the great supporters. The travelling LFC support is often brilliant and they should be helped out. One week's worth of Downing's wage should easily cover the annual budget for travelling supporters.

Thing is though, we're all happy about it, but over in Germany the tickets are exceptionally low in price full stop yet they have a brilliant league with top class players in it, & they get less TV rights money.

So whilst it's good, it's small potatoes compared to what clubs could, & should, be doing for the fans. There should be a large 12-18 year olds area in every stadium priced at £5 a ticket for a starting point, there's so few kids going now compared to when I started going it's scary.

it drives me mad . There they show every single bundesliga game live for 25pounds a month yet the average attendance is the highest in europe which makes a mockery of the "attendances will drop " argument for showing 3pm games etc . Attendances will drop if the product is too expensive , not good enough and fans feel ripped off.

And why don't they fall under the same tv 'monopoly' rules as the premier league does ? Why don't they have to sell off their games in different packages to different broadcasters ?

I guess the big difference is there are less people involved in german football who are really trying to make personal money out of it .

We should force them to buy their club shirts from the official shop first though the "tight buggers" eh?

If you are going to buy LFC gear then the money should go to the club not some replica rep off merchant.

As you would say, hello Apple meet Orange.

Away day fans are very different to your average Joe who buys a fake shirt in Thailand.

If you can afford it, go legit

Nor many can afford it though. I can't and I've had 2 of the kits every season. I'm genuinely tempted to get a replica if they could guarantee I'd feel comfortable in it around my barrel like frame

I shudder to think about families with kids who want it.

Its very immature to judge fans based on where they buy the shirts.. The club already made the bulk of its money related to shirts from Warrior/ Standard Chartered. I highly doubt the sales of kids kits is going to cause us to buy a £15m player over a £20m one. Get over it, or even better - just stop raising it as an issue!

I don't think it really matters whether you can afford it or not - we're not duty bound to hand over our money each season.

I'd consider contributing to the club financially each season but I'd want something more than a shitty t-shirt - cough up some shares along with voting rights.

Yeah, it's crazy how different the Bundesliga is. I love the below quote from one of the board memebers at Dortmund.

Watzke suggests English fans are treated as cash cows. ‘It’s not good when you treat fans as if they are just customers,’ he said. ‘There is a difference. A fan is a fan with his heart, and from that he gives his money.’

Arsenal fans will receive a £2.50 discount on every away Premier League match ticket for the rest of the season. The club will also provide away supporters with a £10 refreshments voucher at an away fixture this Christmas and invest in the away end at the Emirates.

Aston Villa will offer travelling supporters free coach travel for 10 games this season, which started with their match at Hull City last Saturday.

Cardiff City plan to subsidise 30 coaches for their game at Norwich away so fans only have to pay £5. The club are also looking into other deals. Supporters travelling to Cardiff should also check out the club's Away Fans' Guide.

Chelsea have confirmed subsidised travel for at least 10 away games this season, including long trips to Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Sunderland.

Crystal Palace and Swansea City have a reciprocal deal which means "any adult ticket can be purchased at half-price with every full-price junior ticket". Swansea also provided a free hot meal for every travelling fan at St Mary's on Sunday.

Fulham will provide four free coaches at every Premier League away game. The club will also hand out free away tickets to junior season-ticket holders and members.

Hull City have opted to offer free travel to away games and have nearly 30 coaches going to Everton on 19 October. The club will also offer free travel to Spurs (league and Capital One Cup), Southampton, Arsenal, and Swansea City, all before Christmas. Hull are looking at further offers for next year.

Liverpool have reduced ticket prices for away games by £2 to £4, dependent on the opposition. The decision was taken after consultation with the club's supporters' committee.

Manchester United consulted the fans' forum and will knock £4 off the price of every away ticket bought by a United fan, starting with the Fulham game on 2 November.

Newcastle United fund disabled away fan travel for the remainder of this season but other plans are still to be confirmed.

Norwich City will offer "double discount" for trips to both Manchester clubs. The club also laid on 25 free coaches for the trip to Hull City and have offered half-price tickets for the game at Stoke.

Stoke City provide free coach travel to away fans for all Premier League fixtures. This has already resulted in Stoke taking a club record number of fans to Anfield for a Premier League fixture.

Sunderland subsidise away tickets at certain fixtures by £10 and have improved the concourse, signage and bar areas for travelling fans. They will also produce 40,000 guidebooks for visiting fans with things to see and do while in the area.

Tottenham Hotspur offer subsidised travel to all 14 top-flight games outside the London area. They will also assist official regional clubs' travel arrangements and refurbish areas used to accommodate visiting fans at White Hart Lane.[/article]
