Welcome Jurgen

You’ll never walk alone: All the best, dear Jürgen!

Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the new manager of English Premier League club Liverpool. On Friday the 48-year-old Dortmund legend signed a three-year contract with the Anfield outfit, who have won 18 English league titles and eight European competitions.

The former BVB boss has been brought in by the Reds to repeat the success he enjoyed with the Black and Yellows between 2008 and 2015. With the club more or less a sleeping giant when he first arrived in Dortmund seven years ago, Klopp gave Germany's first winners of a European trophy a new style and a new identity. He also led the club to two German League titles (2011, 2012), the first-ever double in the club's history (they won the DFB Cup in 2012 too), the final of the UEFA Champions League (2013) as well as three DFB Cup finals (2012, 2014, 2015) and three victories in the German Super Cup (2008, 2013, 2014).

Now the fans of tenth-placed Liverpool will be hoping the Klopp era at Anfield sparks a similar footballing fairytale. Especially as the two clubs share a number of similarities: they are both working-class cities, share a love for football and, of course, sing a very important song: "You'll never walk alone!"

All of Dortmund, including President Reinhard Rauball, Chief Executive Officer Hans-Joachim Watzke and the whole South Stand, wish you, dear Jürgen, lots of luck and lots of success in this new chapter of your career.

Ever seen such goodwill from a former employer. They love him over there. Ties in very well with his message of "It is not about what you think when I arrive, it is about what you think when I leave".

I dunno welwyn is shit, but Stevenage is worse....that's Chav city.

I thought we'd all agreed on this before, the list is..................

1. Middlesbro
2. Salford
3. Wolverhampton
4. Grimsby
5. Stevenage

The media seem to be having a proper Klopp love-in. Let's hope he doesn't disappoint.

On an aside, I was amused to see that Leicester were linked to Klopp in the summer and in their local paper all the comments were like "we should definitely go get him!". And people say Liverpool fans are delusional!

They're all having sly digs. Gary Gillespie:

“He’ll want to get his teeth into the job, simple as.”

I took it more as a dig at Mourinho.

My first thought was ouch for poor old Brendan but then I remembered that Kenny is wayyyyyyyy to classy for that so I jumped to the same conclusion as you, especially as the media are making comparisions with Mourinho's arival in the Premier league.
Other people seemingly are being less kind...................

Great start for Klopp in England. Refreshing to see the humility he showed. Doesnt take himself too serious unlike some others.

I know that also. I have a small soft spot in that my son was born in Stevenage and the hospital was amazing. Feel bad the little tyke has to have Stevenage as place of birth on his passport for the rest of his life though :-(

How great was he in both those interviews? No sound bites, just a cool football man who is at ease and not burdened by the expectation.

All this Klopp focus in the media must be driving the Liverpool haters absolutely nuts. I'd imagine the bitters already despise him.

Have we had the number of people watching his flight tracker yet? It was appaz 35000 which is higher than Everton's average gate.

I have been reading 'Bluemoon' 'Redcafe' etc just out of pure curiosity - I recommend it - It's fucking hilarious! There is some proper bitter people out there.

To be fair there was some nice comments on redcafe - Klopp is pretty universally liked after all.

Here's this nugget from someone called Ole's_toe_poke (Yeah I know I thought the name was fucking shit as well)
Is the Liverpool manager more popular on here than the United manager? That must be a first for many years.

Fucking right he is a manc div - And Klopp is ours - LFC And Proud!!!!!!! 😎
