Weekends Other Games 3rd/4th February

Makes yesterday's last minute almost bearable.

Can see Chelsea 5th or 6th... What a gang of shithouses. Half those players were in the squad when they stopped playing for Mourinho a couple of seasons ago. They spit their dummies out when they want a manager binned off. Players rule there because they know the owner will always blame the manager, not them.

Fingers crossed for Hazard to Madrid in the summer

Time for Roman to spend or watch it crumble, hopefully the latter

Have to agree with @Woland - it really made yesterday's result bearable for me anyway.

I was impressed with Watford's display and the way they pressed the Chelsea backline was very much like...us - I saw the game after the sending off and Watford looked really good. That guy that used to play for Everton Deulofeu - he looks really good and has a good eye for a pass. He was like a less speedier version of Hazard - with direct running at the blue cunts. Why we did not attempt to sign him on loan I have no idea - but he was spraying passes around really well. I would not be surprised if Chelsea actually make bid for him at the end of the season. But despite Chelsea's form of late it kind of makes me feel good about our 3-3 draw with Watford in the first game. Their midfield players are fucking massive compared to our lot - can someone confirm that ?

The only worry I have is that yet they are managed by some Spanish coach - who seems to be getting them to pass the fucking ball around in similar fashion to Spurs - so I wonder if we are going to have problems facing them. Still - it really helps us in a way - please let us win against Southampton - we really need to capitalize on these situations. It's something we have been unable to do well this season.

Gary Cahill is a pretty fucking average centre back really. The state of his defending for Deulofeu's goal tonight.

They have been atrocious at home this season

Bakayoko with one of the worst footballing displays ever. Lost the ball 7 times, misplaced 33% of his passes, sent off after 30 minutes and was serenaded off the pitch with chants of 'you're fucking shit'. From his own fans.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I can't help but think that think Conte is doing everything to get sacked by Chelsea – quite deliberately. He does everything opposite of a manager who is desperately trying to stay on: keeps publicly criticizing the club's transfer strategy, gets "tactically outplayed" by Arsene Wenger over 2 legs of the FA cup (I bet as one of the sharpest tacticians in today's game he found it quite an amusing challenge to find a way to lose the battle of wits to a manager who doesn't do in-game tactics), goading the club to "issue a statement of support" before the defeat vs Watford, then admitting he "got the starting 11 wrong" afterwards (possibly a hint that he will continue to make "mistakes" until he's sacked)...

I bet he just wants to go on holiday with Roman's money lining his pockets and then start fresh with Italy national team in September. I know it sounds crazy and I have a lot of respect for Conte as a coach and tactician, but he's been implicated in match-fixing before and I believe he does have just the personality to pull off this kind of stunt as some kind revenge/power play against Abramovich or whoever he has the grudge against at Chelsea. If my theory is correct, then Abramovich will surely sense it too (doing business in Russia you develop a sense for these kinds of things) and will try his best not to give Conte what he wants.

Chelsea make me sick - this is following a familiar pattern : after an initial period of success the players get bored with their current manager & stop playing for him. He gets sacked, an interim brought in (Rafa, Hiddink, De Mateo etc.) and performances immediately turned round.

It seems to be part of the clubs DNA now, regardless of who the actual playing staff are.

Bunch of miserable fucking mercenaries

Fuck Chelsea. I reckon Conte has his eyes on an international job post WC - would be an easy four year gig somewhere.

Surely it can't be long until Roman gets bored (if he isn't already). Lose Hazard and they suddenly become very average with Morata & Giroud as forward options.

It's mad and a bit suss that Conte's downfall seemed to coincide with his public spat with Mourinho.

Current manager has run of poor results in second season after winning title, bemoans lack of transfer control = "loses the players" = sacked.
New manager = huge spending spree = title in first or second season

That's the usual cycle. Seems to work.

Worse than that he went on to say he's getting the best possible out of that squad !

Italy say they have given up on signing Conte as their replacement manager.

Zaha out for months to follow 8 other injured senior players at Palace. So that raving loonie Durham on Talkshite says Hodgson will be manager of the season to keep them up.

No mention of his antiquated training methods as maybe, just maybe being the reason? Old coot destroyed Sturridge amongst others and now working his magic at Palace.

Good news that we may win against them.

Considering what happened with Mourinho a few years ago - and it's mostly the same squad - I am not that surprised ... Is it partially Conte's doing? Dunno - he's picking a pretty good team (Arsenal always show up for cup games - see their FA Cup record in 3 of the last 5 years) ... It's just some of the players seem to be doing what they did to Mourinho.
