Wee Rodgers in Europe..

Well, he's right that its half time though. Win at home and it doesnt matter.
Bit of a sad state to start a thread to have a go at Rodgers.

That said he doesnt help himself with how he handles the media;

"No embarrassment," says Brendan Rodgers.

Yeah, they should win at home, and that's all that counts.

But it's still a hugely embarrassing start

TNS. Who we had to drag Gerrard off the bench against, to score a hat trick. Their centre forward went to school with me and drank in our local for years.
We showed no signs of being beat in either tie.. We just treated it as a training session, such was the pedestrian nature of those games. We where always going to win.. I don't think TNS had a shot in either game, let alone looked a threat..

This place has unearthed Rafa thread after Rafa thread over the years, this wasn't initially intended as a dig at Rodgers its more about the circumstances and having a good laugh at the events that took place, whilst at the same time loving the romance of it all.. (from me anyway)

I would of started the thread of this nature without Rodgers at the helm.. Granted it probably would of got no where near as much attention..

Rodgers on Talksport this morning, the plastic pitch getting slated.. Saying it's similar to one of those of one's that Qpr and Luton Town used to have.. We used to get spanked on them in the 80's time and time again.

When asked about the Manchester clubs and their new managers, he dismissed them and has backed Liverpool to win the title this season, due to having no European commitments..

Classy.. Though it may have been deluded Brendan talking at that point though [emoji6]

They lost against the 405 ranked team in Europe.

I doubt that they would even avoid relegation from the English third division. They played against a bunch of part timers and it wasn't down to luck. Red Imps deserved the win. They was the better organised team and had a clear tactic.

Celtic had one plan, 100% attack, the only plan Rodgers team always play. Everyone know how to play against them. Rodgers won't surprise them. It will be 100% attack from start to finish this season, every minute in every game.

Not to make a comparison, but Guardiola started his coaching career at Barca with a 0:1 defeat at some minnows. And was celebrating the Triple at the season's end. Way too early to start throwing rotten vegetables, especially as a physical team like Celtic will inevitably need some time to adjust to a different playing style under a manager like Rodgers.

Made up facts from someone having a laugh on Twitter

In think that's part of the the problem up in Scotland though.

Physical game would be more key to Celtic success given the nature of the league and being able to compete in Europe.. I don't think Rodgers paying style would work so well up there. He would certainly would have to adapt..

Time will tell though..

I didn't see the game, but I hope Brendan has learnt enough to resist going down the old route of 'It'll take time for the players to get used to my methods'/'I inherited a poor squad'. He shouldn't do that anyway - hopefully he noted and appreciated the fact that Klopp didn't spend his first few months moaning about what crap players he'd inherited - and it would be especially unwise for him to try that at Celtic. If the team gets a good result in the next game then he needs to push on, shut up and realise he needs to win pretty much every game.

The problem is that he never change anything. He has used one system and tactic his whole career, 100% attack. If he want to be win leagues then he need to be able to get his teams to play very good defensive football. He need a plan A and if that don't work or if he get a lot of injuries then he need a plan B. Plan B is a good defense so they can will games the ugly way. Like Portugal in the Euro.

The players in his system will need to work their socks off in every game. That means that many tired and injured players. In some games you need to play defensive and ugly so the players get some rest. In parts of the games you need to do the same.

So far he showed that he is to stubborn to accept that his tactics don't work. Instead he blames other things and play 100% attack in game after game.

If he continue the way he do then he will lose yet another dressing room because he don't have a good enough CV, A CV that would give him more time to change things. A CV that show that his methods work if he get time.

Especially given they've won the title 5 years on the bounce.

Obviously that's the minimum requirement really, and they want more success in Europe, but his methods haven't been proven to work there anyway.

I wouldnt laugh to much at that, Astana play their games on an astro turf pitch and drew at home to Atletico Madrid. Not a bad side at all.

His comments are a bit over the top mind, as usual.

These qualifiers are the most risk-laden, jittery things out there. Hopefully we'll get the full horror of it again soon.

People don't want to talk about him, they want to take any opportunity to sneer at him. It's classless and bollocks.

If that's what they want to do let them. Who gives a fuck, just ignore the thread.

They only gain traction by getting attention and replies from you and others.

If nobody bothers they will fade away quickly.

Great performance by Celtic, huge goal for Rodgers at the end.

Would be special if they get Dundalk and probably guarantee Celtic a place in the CL
