We need to talk about Buvac

The only problem is that the front three aren't clicking like they did last season, and that's pretty much down to Salah's form. It's a big problem, but that's it. Wednesday aside we have been creating loads of chances, just not as clinical, final ball not as good as last season, etc. It's tiny little over-hit things, and Salah's sudden inability to find the net. It will click again at some point, and we're top of the league FFS.

I'd drop Salah, except as it's City it would inspire them, and that's the last thing we need. Maybe he'll get some buzz out of playing them again and it turns his form round. He took the piss out of them a few times last season. Might be like getting into an old comfy jumper for him. Hope so. Either way, we're not missing Buvac.

The defence is ace, the midfield is about the same.

The midfield being "about the same" is disappointing and part of the problem. It needed to improve it and we spent £90m on making it NOT the same.
And that's not including the £50m we tried to spend on Fekir, to make it even more not the same.

Of course, it's very early days and we haven't seen Fabinho much at all, and what we've seen of Keita has been...underwhelming, but I expected a bit more from that investment, and it was partly because I didn't expect anything like the same goal return from Salah (or Firmino) this season, so there needed to be an incremental improvement elsewhere. And there hasn't been.

Defensively, we've been far better, yeah.

Our midfield was arguably better without coutinho because our success pretty much relies on winning the ball back and getting it to the much better attackers and wingbacks. So I'm not overly bothered that it's similar, though I expect more from keita. He's only been here five minutes.

That quick pressing and high up the pitch harassment has fallen off a cliff this season so far. We've been far more passive. I think that's part of the reason Salah has been less effective, because we're giving the opposition more time to crowd him out and get into position, as we're moving the ball more slowly and attacking from deeper.

That's certainly where Keita should be able to help more.

Th midfield being the same at the moment is not a big problem, no matter what Money is spent. The once who are playing are there due to their form and that they know the system and what is required of them fully. Milner and Wijnaldum is benefitting from not playing in world cup and both show excellent form, and it would be stupid not to play them only to accomodate new signings. To many managers change around because they have good alternatives. Klopp seem to believe in contunity and try to change as little as possible when players are in form. I assume we will need the hole Squad the further the season goes, and fatigue/bookings/injuries etc start to hit us.

Has it though? We've still been top of all the charts in distance covered and sprints. Gini is finally looking good. Milner is ace. I don't think it's that. I think Mane's decision making had been poor and Salah is off form.

I agree. It seem to be more Down to those two individuals. They will come fine. I Guess they are a little bewilded by last seasons success and they need to work hard to get back on track. They have also been involved in a lot of stuff for their nations so their heads might be a little stressed on that things are not as easy as they looked last season.

So are we all agreed, that all of the things we need to talk about, Buvac and his much vaunted brain are not among them?

He certainly didn't talk much when he was here, there or everywhere himself. I honestly liked he guy and his presence. But I must admit it was due to what everyone else said about him. So far his absent hasn't affected us much. But we have built quite a strong backroom staff over the time Klopp has been here, so my guess is that a lot off things passing by is taken care of by routines and that Buvac would have been, and maybe always was, one of the three that took tough decisions when things got tough. It is fairly easy to manage when things are rolling, but how will Klopp and the team react if we start to loose form/formation/games etc? Klopp is allways talking about how the team need to react to when things go against, so he is obviously aware of it, and maybe then is when you need an elder wise man not afraid to upset you. Lijnders are pretty young, and even if the backroom staff is picked on their wealth of experience it iis quite clear that Buvac knows Klopp from long time and is in a different position to Challenge him when things are tough. Somehow I assume Mourinho probably wish he had his old Assistant instead of Carrick at the moment.

There's a tedious statistical analysis about high pressing on the Echo, I think

Look, we've got a throw-in coach and everything. The Echo website crashes every device I have. You're just gonna have to trust me on this one.

I use Kiwi, but it crashes from time to time.

I use chrome for most sites, having willingly sold them my soul & most of my browsing data in return for them simply filling in my details on login pages & web forms. Yes, I am that lazy.

Of course, for proper privacy I have a Tails usb & the laptop.

I'm using brave browser. Its the best so far at blocking ads in page videos that consume data unnecessarily...kiwi browser is also very good at blocking pop up ads...but not so much the in page video inserts, I found.

I had a friend of mine who suggested I must buy iPhone to avoid this hassle. Then I loaded a newswebsite on my phone and his to show him the difference....no further arguments.

Midfield being the same is a huge problem.

We need better to win a league title

Yeah Id say so, there's nothing so far this season that would suggest any serious long term issues. Weve been a bit flat since the last international break and the front 3 just havent clicked so far. We have an easier run of games coming up after City so we will be in a much better position to judge by the end of Nov.
