But I felt proud watching us today..

Desperately unlucky..

But this is a young side with quality players that oooze class and potential. City are a developed side and we gave them a hell of a game..

Within two years we will win the title and not just that we will be awesome...

The glory days are coming back... Mark my words and Brendon Rodgers is the man to take us forward...

Within 2 years we would have lost Suarez and then... No, we won't

We're only 3 points behind Arsenal and a superior goal difference.

We have Sturridge and Gerrard comng back.

We have Sterling, Coutinho and Henderson rounding into form.

We have new signings who should improve the squad in January.

I say we're still very much in it.

Give me a break - we are still in the title race even if we lose to Chelsea. The reason ?

I think we can beat Man City, Chelsea, and Arsenal when they come to face us. So what we have lost today is something we can gain when they come and visit us. We did really well against them and created much better chances.

It's the first game in quite a while that I've come away feeling proud of the team after a defeat.
We were desperately unlucky.
At the same time, Rodgers has to drill into his team that when we're attacking we simply can't be having all our midfielders and fullbacks hanging around the penalty area with only the center backs covering for counter attacks.
And defending free kicks and corners is the worst it's been in 20 years, maybe the worst I've ever seen from us.

Say what you want about Brendan but what I like about him is that he rarely makes the same mistakes twice. Or at least he tries.

It shows one thing i.e. he learns. And fast too.

He also has shown commendable adaptability - making full use of what is at his disposal even when he has not got what he's wished for.

All these signs tell me he's a very ambitious manager. Desperately hungry for success. Make no mistake about it - he's definitely not your 'Qualify for CL and be glad about it' sort of manager. He's got hunger but channels it very well and unlike many managers incl. his predecessors, controls his emotions very well and doesn't blow his trumpet, nor does he undermine our chances either. He's just sound.

Rarely makes the same mistake twice? Two words: Ally Cissokho.....

This is way way over the top much like that article about Rodgers the other day.

I don't mean to piss on anyone's chips here (well, actually I kinda do because shits getting crazy) but at the moment we've got arguably the best player in the world playing out of his skin week in, week out and that's why we are where we are. We can't regard that as a constant.

He's got a decent supporting cast with a few players having stepped up in recent weeks but we've still got a way to go until we can start talking about being title challengers on a consistent basis.

Hang on...

My initial post was praising the current Liverpool squad..

I maintain we won't win the title this season, our squad lacks depth and the maturity the likes of Man City have... But we will challenge and be there or there abouts to the very end...

However very soon we will become a force.. Mark my words. Rodgers is building a squad for the future. We have some cracking players coming through the ranks, decent players out on loan with the likes of Suso and Wisdom.. This is a very young squad.. A very talented young squad.

City's youngest player on the pitch yesterday was Nasri.. He is older than 7 of our starting 11

Rodgers has us playing a system that I haven't seen Liverpool play since the Barnes, Aldo, Beardsley era of the 80s..

I listen to neutral supporters praise the way we play, something I have not heard for many a year....

These characteristics and values in terms of the way we play are being installed into to our young players. Players we buy will have to fit into that system...

With Rodgers at the helm the glory days are very much coming back... It just requires a little more patience...
