That's with another career threatening injury by the way. I'm not saying he'd be top of my list for a striker, far from it, but he should be under consideration imo. He's much more clinical in front of goal from when he was with us. He still has that electic pace that we're lacking up front.

He's just not an intelligent footballer. Countless of offsides, missed chances, strange decision making etc.
It's easy to forget but we got an upgrade with Torres.
We need top class strikers, someone comfortable in and around the box.
Cavani, Aguero, Villa, Falcao...that type of striker.

I really dont know where or how we're going to get a top class striker though.
There's not too many about, well there is, but we all know who they are and they'd cost a fortune/not come to us.
Of course we'd love a Cavani or Falcao but it's much easier than done and until we're back up with United, City, Arsenal etc and in the CL, it's going to be hard to attract the big names. We should be looking at players that can knock in 15+ goals a season which could make all the difference.
Easy to say I know but there are players out there that are not on top of every other clubs radar. To be fair to Rafa Torres was not seen as a top striker, just a quality player and despite rumours of the Mancs looking at him a year earlier no-one else was in for him when Rafa made his move. You have to be able to see what a player may be capable of and then make it happen.

I think Henderson will get goals eventually. I think as he matures and gets more confident in himself he will start to bang them in. He already finds great positions he just lacks the testicular fortitude to do anything once he gets there.

we'll go into the new season not with expectation but the hope that the players couldn't possibly be worse then they were this season.
We need to look in the South American leagues where the likes of Cavani and Falcao come from.
Teams like Porto seem to regularly get top class S.American players for peanuts.
I dont think Adam, Enrique, Downing etc will get any better Neil.
Henderson and Shelvey I think will improve.
I'm hoping adam is moved on. robinson will hopefully come in from time to time to give enrique a rest and downing will improve on ZERO.

for all this talk of signing players based on stats , it shows how fucking useless we are that we signed a load that don't do one of the most important things , score . Did someone forget that stat on the sheet or what ? These lads didn't score alot before, how the fuck did they think that together they suddenly would. It's fucking mind boggling how poor some people who work in football really are .

If he wasn't a wife beater and he didn't completely infuriate me the first time round with his brainless inability to stay onside, then I wouldn't be against him as back up 'If' we are bringing a top quality attacker aswell.

Having road-tested Cissé pretty thoroughly, it is a wonder to me that anybody would want him back! (Same as Benitez I suppose 😉).
Cissé's one asset was pace but for me he offered little else. I can't remember a striker who was caught offside more often, mainly because he didn't think about what he was doing.
