We should loan sneijder, van der v or huntelaar.
Huntelaar has already gone to Inter I think it is.
Nah, to Milan.

I bet Rafa got a £15M signing on fee.

*shakes fist*
Rafa would refuse it even if it was offered.

I heard that he volunteered to take a pay cut during his contract talks.
Really?

I'm impressed 8)

Where'd you get that from,PM?
Yeah he is a truly great man.

A very reliable source mate.

Haha you're funny at times... ;D
He got £4M a season after long talks
Rafa would never have accepted a pay cut.

Not without some kind of quid pro quo, but he might have in return for a longer contract. Maybe that's one reason why the negotiations took such a long time.

It doesnt matter whether he's injured now. We dont need him now cos Torres isnt injures=d.

If we are bringing in help for Stevie and Fernando it will be on the cheap or free

Rafa happy with his lot
Reds boss has faith in his squad
Benitez: No need for squad overhaul

Rafa Benitez insists his Liverpool squad does not need any more big-money acquisitions.

The Reds boss has been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, with Glen Johnson and Alberto Aquilani the only notable arrivals.

With funds tight at Anfield, Benitez always knew he was going to have to adopt a cautious approach in identifying fresh faces.

He is, however, happy with the squad he has at his disposal and claims high-profile singings are no guarantee of success.

"To bring in a big, big name, you often have to change everything. It was the same situation when we brought in Robbie Keane," said the Spaniard.

"People were saying 'but Steven Gerrard and (Fernando) Torres are doing really well,' even though in the end, we needed to change things because they were injured.

Quality
"We have signed the players we needed and I don't think we are short in attack. David Ngog is a player with quality, hopefully he can bring something.

"On Wednesday Ryan Babel was doing really well for Holland and don't forget he's a striker. Dirk Kuyt is another and so is Andriy Voronin. We have to adapt to our situation and needed to improve in other areas."

The first game of the new season takes Liverpool to White Hart Lane on Sunday to face Tottenham.

The Reds began the 2008/09 campaign on the road at Sunderland and Benitez feels his side have been given a tough time by the fixture computer.

"It would be interesting to see how the fixtures are done because every year we seem to have a difficult away game," he said.

"It will be tough against a good team (Spurs) and a manager (Harry Redknapp) with experience. But we will try to get all three points."

Heh. That to me suggests we are going after someone.
If we are I doubt if it will be a big name attacking player. Perhaps a centre half.

He's hardly gonna come out & we're after a striker if he does want one cos it'll push the price up.

I'm fairly confident we'll see one more signing, & it'll be at least 15m.

I appreciate that he is hardly likely to openly declare his intensions on the transfer front. By the same token though, in previous transfer windows, such statements have been regularly greeted with a nod and wink and a belief that he has something big up his sleeve. only for nothing to transpire.
I hope I am wrong but but to believe otherwise would probably leave me dissapointed once again by transfer window closure.
I reckon, aside from some defensive cover and perhaps a couple of 16 year old wonderkids our tranfer dealing are done 🙁

unfortunately Rafa you often forget that he can play in that position too

Arsenal have 20 midfielders and attackers.
Villa 16.
Chelsea 17.
Everton 17.
Liverpool 13.
Citeh 17.
Spurs 18.
United 20.
We stick out like a sore thumb there.
Another one in would really help.
We can live without it though.
Dossena, Degen, Aurelio and Johnson could all fill in in emergency. Maybe Agger too.
Creativity MAYBE is a bit shy.

Everton have 17 midfielders / attackers?

Are you counting the likes of Rodwell?
Yes. Its the full first team squad list from this years Barclays Premier league. Ours for example includes Plessis, Spearing and El Zhar.

Babel is a crap striker, he's just too static I think.. better on the right or left.
cos wingers can be static right?

Re: We’re looking at getting Gerrard & Torres some help

Babel's movement when he's a striker isn't very good at all.

Bable supprised me last season playing up front vs Chelsea.

I thought he looked strong on the ball. But I haven't seen anything since that has made me think he would do a good job for us there.

Babel is exceptionally strong on the ball when he wants to be. I agree though that at times he does look a little lost when playing up front - he should try and learn from Torres because out of everyone in the squad, it's only him really that has the attributes to emulate him.

I've always liked Babel and despite a crisis of faith brought on by his lack of opportunities last season would love to see him come good even if that just means he becomes a good squaddie a la Yossi.

sometimes babel shows a single minded desire to get in the box and other times he looks like he can't be asked, you don't know which babel is going to turn up. when babel is in the mood though he can make people look stupid he absolutely STRIPED johnson and johnson i supposed to be quick.

We should be in for Gudjohnsen. He would be able to fill in very well for Torres or even play with him in a 4-4-2. He will come cheap. So hopefully we can still have some hope about that elusive winger. If not now, in January at least.

Surely he's too slow to act as a lone striker. We'd be as well putting Kuyt up top and Benayoun on the right.
