Once in a blue moon there is a surf spot nearby called "the wedge" which produces 30 ft tall waves. These conditions existed today, and everyone and his wife went out to see pro bodyboarders, and the occasional insane surfer, brave the conditions.

The place is mental. The waves break in a couple feet of water at most. If you drop in late on one of these waves, its a 30 foot fall into a foot of water with the same 30 feet of water crashing down on top of you. If you get on the wrong side of the wave, and are driven right instead of left, there is a rocky jetty.
I watched a man get pounded into said jetty. Everyone on the shore knew he was done the second it happened. Crazy. People tried to help, but others just kept on surfing.
So, anyone else have a biting the dust story? I'll play the funky queen bassline.
