We've signed a new goalkeeper today

for the reserves.

This is interesting - From Sky Sports - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7466499/McCarthy-spurned-Kenny-request

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has revealed he turned down an enquiry from Liverpool counterpart Kenny Dalglish about pushing their game back because of the transfer window.

The two sides will meet at Molineux in the Premier League on Tuesday night - which is also transfer deadline day.

McCarthy says Dalglish contacted him requesting to change the game to the following day due to Liverpool's potential business in the transfer market.

But the Wolves manager refused because he wanted more time to prepare for Saturday's trip to QPR.

He said: "I know Liverpool wanted to play the game on the Wednesday and asked me about it and I said 'no chance'.

"We are going down to QPR on Saturday so why would I play a day later? I want as much time to prepare for both games but I could understand Liverpool's request.

"Kenny just asked me because they might be doing something (in the transfer market) and I understood it - but he understand my reasons for not changing."

Has anyone been following the Red Sox offseason ?

Very similar to our January thus far. They even traded away a good player for virtually nothing to get 5m off their wage bill.
The way I read that, the discussion and request probably happened a while back.
It's not like they are going to try and rearrange a premiership fixture a couple of days before the original date.

Hopefully we have some offers out and one of them comes off. We could do with an attacking signing.

No one coming in. Thats a shame.
We could have used an AM of ball tingling quality.
And a striker.
And a DM.

Still we build.

definately saw that coming.
The summer transfer window will be interesting espeically if we don't make the CL.
will the owners invest to get us there or tread water with a sell to buy policy to consolidate mid table mediocrity?

Neither.

The club will spend what it earns, as it always has done.

Who did they trade Ross? Papelbon? (I thought he was a free agent).
Yeah Papelbon is gone as a free agent (Wakefield is expected to as well), but they sent Scutaro to the Rockies for some pitcher who is 26 and not expected to do anything in the major leagues. Scutaro earns 6m (but is worth about 10m per year if you look at the sabermetric stats), and they got rid of him because they want to pick up Oswalt (who won't go to Boston) and some cheap outfield help.

The offseason has seen them sign John Maine (SP formerly of the Mets who they hope can pitch in relief despite him missing the entirety of last season) and Cody Ross (4th outfielder). They haven't managed to resign Big Papi yet either, but they're going to arbitration. They made a trade with the A's as well, in which they got Bailey and Sweeney but gave up Reddick (their Rookie of the Year last season)

They've gotten worse during the offseason and they're going to miss the playoffs unless something strange happens.

I know they had very high hopes for Jose Iglesias at short stop. Maybe that's part of it?

(sorry for going of topic).
They're keeping him at AAA for a bit longer cos he's not hitting, Aviles and Punto are expected to play in the meantime.

“@OptaJoke: 10 - Jim White has just bought 10 grams of speed in preparation for his shift on transfer deadline day. Deal.”

Jim White totally ruins deadline day for me
Yeah, he's an absolute cock.

Exactly

If gordon burns was doing it it's be a drab affair

jim white...wow

THERES MOVEMENT AT SPURS!! LETS GO TO JOHN, JOHN! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!

Well jim, the tea lady has just arrived for work.

Thanks john...
INCREDIBLE SCENES AT THE LANE THERE

Yeah I kind of love it - It has a weird kind of machiavellian charm to it. Helicopters, sky sports foaming at the mouth with news that some loan deal is going through. Is 'arry around? He's alway good for value for pure - head out of the car window 'exclusives'! "Yeah he's a good player....." blah blah blah. Some twat standing outside Melwood trying to clock every car that moves in and out of the gates. Should be fun...

There is usually some kind of wonder signing that happens. I just wonder who it will be this year. Although I have a feeling its all going to be a bit ....Meh! :-\

Normally there is actually some kind or rumour or interest kicking around before final day this time there seems to be nothing.
