With two days to go it seems no-one is doing anything in this window.

Cahill has been about the only big move of note.

Along with some temp. MLS loans and Chelsea offloading their baggage not much else has happened.

The amount of column inches this month generates versus the actual activity is such a nonsense.

Well it's clear buying in January doesn't represent good value. All players prices are massively overinflated. That said someone will take the plunge and dip in. Which in turn will spark a transfer frenzy. Probably on the last day.

It's just an impossible market really. Nobody want to let players go mid-season and then struggle to replace them.

'Cept Newcastle...

Not necessarily...obviously you will have a fair few transfers that don't work out, there are also many that do and below i've listed a few of the deals completed during the January transfer window in recent years that I think have worked and represented relatively good value, but I feel this overinflated price thing during this transfer window is a myth to be honest and the price could just as likely decease as well, as in the case for Gary Cahill, depending on the length left on their contract. The only way the price escalates is when a deadline is set and club is desperate to get a player but that could just as likely happen in the Summer as it could in January i.e. Modric to Chelsea.

Euros in the summer also mean players are less likely to move??
[/quote]

What about those that don't play like Kranjcar? I'd have thought those types are very likely to move?

Hazard was just on Canal+ and said he'll play in England next season, for a club that plays good football. Im guessing Chelsea or Arsenal.

Can't see Hazard being attracted to us but who knows? Not heard any more transfer info. All potential deals have fallen through. Gutted.

Chelsea play good football?

Arsenal can afford 40+ million?

It's one of the Manc teams probably

Surely the lack of transfer activity this january can be traced directly to Harry Redknapp having more pressing commitments, although it does raise the question of how a man who cant work a fax machine can get involved in so many last minute deals, maybe he tries to sign the players on the 1st of jan but it takes him a month to send the crayola written fax through correctly

I stand corrected Sir - Well hopefully we sign someone. A striker would be nice....

Dalglish: No new senior players
30th Jan 2012 - Latest News

Kenny Dalglish is adamant that Liverpool will conduct no business in what is left of the transfer window.

The boss expects no new additions to the first-team squad at Melwood before the window closes on Tuesday night.

He said: "There'll be nothing happening here in the transfer window, in or out. There's no need to ask any questions about transfers or speculation or anything else."

ITS A SMOKESCREEN!!!!!!

I suppose that could be a way of playing tough with the selling club, but if it's true it's incredibly disappointing. Watching John Henry pace about on the pitch last Saturday talking on his mobile phone I'd hoped he was involved in some or other transfer. Turns out he was probably just catching up on his baseball. We'll have to take some chances with the youngsters now.

Kenny's not lying to us, he's just lying to the media to keep them at bay, we're signing an attacking player

We HAVE to be

Eh?

We just navigated past Both Manchester teams into the League cup final and next round of the F.A cup without Super Luis Suarez, I can forgive the powers that be for thinking we don't need a new forward, having Suarez back after a month without him will feel like a 'new signing' anyways.

Carroll is waking up from his slumber, Kuyt is entering his annual purple patch, Bellers is firing on all cylinders and Suarez is back.

We're cooking on Gas, Anita.

Well he's said early on in the window he expected it to be 'fairly quiet'. It's taken until now to sound more definitive. I can't believe he wanted there to be no incoming deals but maybe Henry was reluctant to oblige. I don't actually mind that attitude now if FSG are genuinely going to be patient but if they express alarm if we fail to make the top four they'll be ignoring their own culpability. We need more firepower now.

Well you asked for it. "lie to me"...

Maybe something will happen but he sounded pretty definite there. If he was just not wanting to tell the media he could have said something non-committal and vague

Agreed. It's looking a lot healthier for us in the striking department now.

If them 4 are on their game, we definitely don't need anyone else. They all offer something different as well.

wouldnt mind a striker, or maybe a dm, but i not surprised kennys come out and said this and i dont think we'll buy anyone for the main team, we've got suarez to come back and an on form bellamy, carrolls still gona get a chance cause it looks like heres here for the long haul and we've still got kuyt as a backup striker. apart from lucas and spearo being out we dont really have call for anymore cover
