Vardy close to joining Gunners

I meant how he went from the Golden Boot and 30 Premiership goals, to then scoring half that (and declining) in the following seasons. He was only about 27 when he won The Golden Boot. OK, so he scored 14 or 15 Premiership goals the next season, which is OK, but it still seems a steep decline.

That was his first season where he was unknown. Maybe after getting fucked so badly, every opposition manager came up with specific plans to stop him, and Phillips didn't exactly have enough skill to make them pay for their plans. A similar thing will happen to Vardy, but instead of lament his decline, you'll probably just laugh at the cunt.

I doubt a man who was working in a factory a few years ago sees it as coming too late. He's won the league title, he's off to the Euros in the Ing ur lund squad and he's being offered120K a week and a four year deal at the age of 29. What's not to like?

Yeah I agree with that mate, I just mean from a longevity point of view for Arsenal. Vardy must be pinching himself.

Nothing from Vardy's own point of view, but I don't think that's what mark's referring to. The point mark's making, with which I for one agree, is that it's quite likely come too late to have successful consequences and may well end up the same way Kevin Phillips' career did.

Still don't see the issue. He's worked his nuts off to get where he's got NOW. Thousands never make it as pros. He's made it late. Better than not at all. His career is already more successful than 99% of players from now or ten years ago or 20 years ago. He could have been finished at 29 like Owen and many, many others. Instead he's on the upswing.

Indeed. Although you won't be surprised that I now hope he fails and helps Arsenal fail with him.

Well that obviously goes without saying.

Although binomial will doubtless be on shortly, eulogising about how he hopes Vardy has a wonderful, successful career at Arsenal, and helps them to win lots of trophies, because he is a football fan, and just loves football, like all modern, open-minded, clever and kind people do.

So that announcement before 11.30 didn't happen. He looks a bit unhappy this morning....

He looks a bit slitty eyed to me

It's shit if he leaves along with Kante and Mahrez. After the season they've had, I want to see them all carry it on to next season in the Champions League.

We paid £32.5 for Benteke.

Jamie Vardy is 30 years old in 7 months time and in his first two seasons in the Premiership scored a total of 29 goals.

Benteke also scored 29 goals in his first two seasons in the Premiership, but is only 25 years old.

Even if one were to ignore the fact that his release clause is £20m, only a total fucking lunatic would pay anywhere near £40m for Jamie Vardy, and that's not even taking into account the fact that £32.5m was a very toppish price to pay for Benteke.
