I was looking at some old barca videos(Ala youtube) and Ronaldinho was a real beast of a player for them.

However, he has since faded into obscurity with AC Milan and i was wondering if we were to sign him will Rafa be able to wave his magic wand as he did to mascherano and bring us sweet 19. I think Liverpool would be a big enough challenge to Ronaldhinho and he would be a nicer fit to us tactics-wise on the left than the players we are linked with (Elano).

Which players do you guys think are in a rough patch at the moment and signing for Liverpool would help them recover their careers?

Bentley? The fat Ronaldo? Michael Owen? Titus Bumble?

There is a part of me that still views Ronaldinho as he was for Barca, however the past has kinda taught us that once these superstar Brazilians start down this road of self-destruction, that's it really. I still don't know why or how he's lost his mojo, but I'm guessing he's not getting it back.

The only player I'd be half willing to grant any redemption at our club is Michael Owen and that's largely because he's free.

Personally i think Owen coming back here would be good for us but not good for himself. He wants regular games to get back in the England fold but if Torres is fit he will always start ahead of MO.

We have a highly reliable player to fall back on and on the contrary to what people say about MO needing to play consistantly to score, look at his time at Real and Newcastle. Good for us but not good for him.

Ronaldinho though, even the fatso that he has become, i think can provide that extra edge in unlocking teams that park the bus and reignite his club and international career playing regularly for the best club in the world.

I think that coming to a club like Liverpool is the best chance he's got of getting back into the England squad. Just look at what playing for England (even if not always regularly) has done for the international careers of Crouch, Riera et al.

The only reservations I have about Owen coming back - contract aside - are around potential disruption due to the high media interest and maybe (and I'm probably way way off base with this) a bit of tension coming about due to his friendship with Gerrard and Carra if things don't work out.

I've not seen much of Ronaldinho at Milan - extremely little in fact - so I can't say what sort of shape or form he's in but if Milan, a club notorious for extending the careers of ageing superstars, are willing to let him go, I think we should stay well clear (and Rafa wouldn't tolerate such a work shy player anyways).

If he came for a knock-down fee and on moderate wages with a burning desire it could be the best buy we've had since Sami.

If only...

I disagree with you on the international career thing Keni.. Playing for Liverpool works wonders for any player's international career only if you are spanish. I think Owen has to play regularly to get ahead of Bent, Rooney Carlton Cole...

I can envision the scenerio when we sign Owen. With the sort of football we are now playing, nice interplay with Gerrard and Yossi, through ball gets knocked forward. Owen scampering there only for Micah Richards to catch up and brushes off little mikey and boots the ball away. Sure he can get us a few goals fox-in-a-box style but what about his general play for our team?

How about Morten Gast Pederson? Another player who has faded recently but i feel has enough talent to make it at Liverpool.

The problem with Ronaldinho was that he achieved pretty much everything there is to achieve in the game before he really hit the prime.

He achieved it all as he was developing and then some when he was just class - but was just getting started.

It would be hard to find that hunger and desire after winning everything so quickly in your career I think.

Hopefully he can regain that desire because he is one hell of a footballer when on song.

Christ, how has Pederson still got fans? He's a wondergoal a season, MOTD player who can't cross, can't beat a man, isn't especially quick, a player even the Blackburn fans don't rate highly, and a diving cunt as well.

Nowhere near good enough.

Nor is Ronaldinho.

I don't disagree that his ideal situation would involve playing week in, week out and scoring goals, but the problem is - who would he be doing that for? Which team of sufficient quality and profile would want him in the starting eleven and more importantly, would his body be able to cope playing 40-50 games at this stage of his career?

The option that carries the least risk is to join a high profile club that plays in the Champions League and score a few goals for them.

Ergo, join Liverpool FC.

Aye Owen's not even 30 and I think he will not want to treated like a broken down vehicle. At RAWK, posters are saying that he's not coming back as he doesn't want a pay-as-you-play deal...

Best thing for Owen would be to be a regular starter in a team that plays good football and willing to pay high but not exoberant wages i.e. Fulham or even Everton, at a stretch, who are also in Europe.

Ok Pederson is a long short but look at Yossi, good player at a mid-table club and now squad player.

I really believe Ronaldinho will be motivated at Liverpool. On a cool wednesday European night with the kop at full voice chanting his name.... The only question that begets is whether he will turn it in on against pompey in december..

Any other players you posters feel can get a career revival at LiverpooL?
