It's fucking shit. The standard of the Premier League has dropped dramatically.
Man City get humped every year in the CL, we got completely dicked last week by a half-arsed Real Madrid, Arsenal got blown away by Dortmund, it's not a trend anymore.
We're fucking appalling and we're probably still in the top handful of sides in the league.

Every time anyone gets any good they fuck off overseas.
Alonso, Suarez, Ronaldo, Bale... and the rest of the world's best are already in Spain or Germany. We end up with wankers like Balotelli.
I know the mancs got that rat faced madrid reject and Chelsea got that nine hundred year old Brazilian but really, there's a Spain drain as far as the very top players are concerned.
That said, I still love watching our league. We wouldn't be nearly as shite if we had Sturridge. Iberia was just lucky they colonised countries who ended up having good footy players. We ended up with a load of fucking cricketers.

I remember reading an article in 2010/11 that said that they lowered the tax rate in Spain for footballers to an obscenely low rate. Basically, if you earn the same amount in Spain as you do in England you'd get to keep 25% more of your gross salary. Ever since then the La Liga giants have poached the three best players in the PL and countless more from other leagues. Its no coincidence. It is a bit shit though.
And the weather doesn't blow.

In fairness, I think we were all delighted in those two things.
I was thinking about this after the Hull game, the difference in quality between the top four this year, and the top four in 2007 is massive. Only Chelsea in the league can be considered a threat across Europe, its embarrassing. The upside of course is that its giving us a chance to break back into the top four, but by christ the league has fallen alot over the last five years.
I'd still like to win an utter shit league.

I'm not sure that Europe is the best barometer. Italy haven't got a single team that look capable of achieving something in either competition. Germany have one in Bayern and to a lesser extent Dortmund that have their own problems. Spain have Barca and Real as usual and then there tends to be a clutch of teams that are capable of performing in Europa League and to an extent in the earlier rounds of the CL.
We have Spurs and Everton who are capable of putting together a good run in the Europa League. Chelsea in the CL and maybe City if they get out of their yearly group of death. The success of the Premiership in CL between 2005-2009 was never going to last.
Chelsea are clearly the stand-out team this year. City should be right up there with them but there is something missing there and it's been the case over the last few years - they seem to lack leadership / ruthlessness / that key ingredient that ensures consistency at a high level. They have a great squad and are capable of competing against anyone when in full flight... but given where they're at, it must be a bit disappointing to have to add caveats.
Then there is Utd and us going through painful transitional periods (I'm still hoping 5 years later that it's a transition with us rather than permanent) and Wenger trying to figure out how to spend big.

The quality in the rest of the prem hasn't gone up, its just the quality of the top teams in the prem has gone down.
It's been style over substance ever since Sky got their greedy little mitts on it. If the brains trust of Danny Mills, Robbie Savage, Tony Cottee et al keep telling generations of herds it's the best league it the world it becomes so.
Nah. There was that bit ten years ago when English clubs had a real go in Europe. It changed with the tax laws.

The bottom 10-15 sides have gotten noticeably better, but it's absolutely true that the top sides have deteriorated in recent years.
There's a lot of parity in the league now on any given day, but over the course of the season, the top 4-6 will inevitably seperate themselves.
